Do not listen to these posters OP, 1 is a fucking classic and it's a damn shame it never came out in your region, but it's also completely different. 1 is a horror themed action jrpg with amazing weapon customization and a cool battle system that focuses on dodging enemy projectiles and attacks as well as properly positioning yourself. The original is extremely fun and always worth a replay. The sequel on the other hand, is just a decent game, it's gone off in a completely different direction. The weapon customization is way less interesting and in general, the game feels like Resident Evil if Resident Evil rewarded you for killing everything that you see. Not a bad game at all, has some fun bosses but it's a little bit of a disappointment for fans of the first game. Faggots will always come in Parasite Eve threads and try to claim 1 is shit, just don't listen to them, or at the very least play 1 and form your own opinion about it, 1 is highly regarded as a classic.

In my opinion, if you're looking purely at the gameplay, then 2>TB>1. It's worth noting, though, that the first game has the most unique mechanics, and is thus potentially more interesting than the others even if a lot of it isn't executed all that well. The three games are also different enough that it's difficult to directly compare them, so I doubt my opinion represents any sort of consensus.

As for the first two, as others said, these are different types of games. I love 1 and hate 2, but YMMV.
