Is WGPD MAX!!! the bestest portable emu machine today?
Or issit just a phat meme that's too phat?

>> No.6516527

This device does look cool. Also some of the products he shows in that video seem useful. For example you can instantly see your current and past internet activity with Glasswire, use offer code "linus" to get 20% off. You can detect malware and block badly behaving apps with it too. Then there's private internet access which lets you encrypt internet traffic http://lmg.gg/pialinus2, and you can try it risk free. As for the GPD Max it's a promising device with some small flaws but overall a solid experience especially for emulating your favorite retro titles.

Not a meme to me. I recently backed it. I bought a used GPD Pocket 2 on ebay and absolutely love the thing with minor gripes. Mostly regarding IO and the requirement of extra peripherals to be productive. A minimal linux distro goes a long way, and was more useful than the bogged down Windows it came with. The typing experience was decent, so the added size to this one won't bother me at all. It was a backer unit too and there were no defects which gives me more confidence about it not being a "retail" unit. I found myself wishing I'd gotten a Win 2 for how much I held it like a controller. It played any N64 or PSX game I threw at it, but having to carry a controller or mouse with it kinda defeated the point of it's size. I welcome the phat, because my hands start hurting when playing on something like a 3DS. I put a 5000 mAh battery on it and the thickness gives me more to hold onto. Also, I don't play video games in public unless on my phone so I don't care about the look of it. It does look like a netbook with some controller buttons, but it doesn't scream gaymer. For the occasions I'll be using it in public, it'll look fine on a desk or table. Would recommend if it fits your niche like it does for me.

You don't need a GPD to emulate retro games. Odroid and other small single board computers are sufficient. It's good for running retro windows games though I guess.

How much does it cost? 900 or 1k burger bucks? If I was to waste that much on a chink handheld machine, it better be damn good to the point of giving blowjobs.

It's overkill when so much more exists to choose from for lower prices.

Why are most handheld emulators like this? Are chinks retarded?

>> No.6516639

>>6516624
Are you sure most are like that?

The x15 (psp shape with real usb ports and touch screen, 1.5 ghz, 2 gig ram) and powkiddie (same specs basically but folding) thing are perfection.

>> No.6516653

>>6516624
Despite the pow and x15 I like the retroid though, because I hate touchscreens, hate new age looks, like 4:3, and wasn't going to go online anyway and actually like low rez, and want to charge with a usb device. What if the power is out and I have not but a 5v solar charger? I assume the retroid is okay with that. Also, it's buttons are shit but has bluetooth anyway and shoots up on hdmi.

So I, plus it's cheaper and I'm neet, want a retroid. Glass screen too.

The volume can be made to be used as l+r also, for some odd.

Shit like that dreamhax rg300 is gay though a bit. I assume you were bitching about things like that weird linux machine. I agree I'd not buy it. It can't n64 anyway and has not enough buttons.

suggested retail price seems to be 758 USD? unless you decide to fund their indiegogo and pay more.

Wow, that's dirt cheap! Gonna order a dozen of them asap.

Just use a Vita, New 3DS or a Switch. Why would anyone even buy a $300 chinkshit android 'gaming phone' with physical controls instead of a hacked/hackable Switch?

>> No.6516820

>>6516781
>hacked/hackable Switch?
new switch is not hackable YET. firmware updates might also brick it. 3DS would be a better choice.

>> No.6516849

>>6516820
Which is why is specified hacked/hackable. I am so-so on the 3DS as a first choice though. The TN screens are utter garbage and completely unacceptable. The IPS lottery is a crapshoot. The screen on my DSi XL is much better than my N3DS. The Vita is overall the bettee option, I'd say.

I bought a vita awhile back and I was disappointed at first. The emulation/homebrew scene had a miraculous resurrection recently. The damn thing couldn't even emulate gba properly in vita mode now it can. They went way past that and are now focused on N64 and DC. PSX games in PSP mode are a no brainer too. It's my preferred way to play Megaman Legends because you can map the L/R buttons to the right analog stick which makes the camera controls a lot less janky. It's nice to see it getting so much love especially since I bought it with the intention of playing emulators in the first place.

Sort your shit out. Line them up properly and put the text for each handheld to the right of them. I'm pretty sure you've seen other lists and infographics in your lifetime, and nobody does the random shit you've done here.

Agreed. What makes the GPD so good is that you can play PS2, PS3, GC, Wii, WiiU, etc. games portable.

>> No.6518158

>>6516446
I like the idea but the layout is just a mess. This one in particular is too large, the old one was a way more reasonable size, but they all have the whole thing where the controls are crunched to make room for a full fucking keyboard.

>> No.6518256

>>6516697

Phew. Why shouldn't I get a Pyra for that instead now it's pretty much near completion?

>> No.6518413

>>6518158
Well it depends on how you look at it. If it's nothing but a gaming handheld to you then obviously it's overpriced and you should look elsewhere. But it is an actual laptop with decent horsepower. I look at it as a fast netbook with good thermals and a built-in controller for when I want to play games in bed or chilling on the couch. I visit my folks a lot and being able to just dock it or throw a movie on the tv in such a small size for a laptop is very compelling to me. To each their own, though. I'm just happy there are still people out there making weird shit like this.
