ITT post best retro compilations.

Pic related had a ton of emulation problems in hindsight and the extras weren't much to write home about, but I dumped hours into Joust, Sinistar, Robotron, Smash TV, and Defender. This was basically my introduction to Williams and Atari arcade games.

This and Mega Collection. Though some of the ways to unlock stuff is a little annoying they're pretty much the most solid ways to play Sonic and other assorted Sega games with a bunch of other extras. Probably the way a lot of SA2 players experienced the classic games firsthand.

>Dead or Alive Ultimate is a compilation fighting game developed by Team Ninja and released by Tecmo for the Xbox in 2004. It is a collection of the two previous games in the series, 1996's Dead or Alive and 1999's Dead or Alive 2. It marks the only game in the series to date to be a compilation. DOA Ultimate contains a high-resolution edition of the Sega Saturn version of Dead or Alive, and an enhanced remake of DOA2 which utilized the Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball graphics engine and offered Dead or Alive 3 game mechanics, new game content, online multiplayer capabilities, and the inclusion of Hitomi as a playable character

Honestly the only good PS2 compilation out there is this Sega AGES 2500 one that had damn near all of them worth playing on one disc, i think it was a pack in with a playstation magazine, you can find the iso pretty easily with some googling.

The reason why its basically the only good one is because it has every model 2 port sega made for ps2 which the system is actually really suited to. There are very few ports of 2D arcade games on ps2 that actually run at the correct resolution or aren't better emulated on something else.

Pretty much everything else posted in here is useless garbage. You act like Sega used the original console versions of Sega CD and Sonic R on Gems when they didn't.

The only Saturn game on there is Sonic R, which had a PC port that was used on Gems collection. Sonic CD is a Sega CD game that already had two PC ports and Sega still screwed up is how the graphics were displayed in certain zones.

>Retro gaming means consoles, computer games, arcade games (including pinball) and any other forms of video games on platforms launched in 1999 and earlier. With the release of the 8th generation of consoles, the Sega Dreamcast will now be considered "retro", though the remainder of the sixth generation (Xbox, PS2, GameCube) will not.

Garbage compared to Namco Museum Virtual Arcade on Xbox 360 that has all those games and more plus XBLA games like Galaga Legions and Pac-Man Championship. Almost 35 games in total, runs about 20 bucks on eBay.

They're as much a platform as something like Steam or Origin. Maybe not officially, but they function in the same way.

I like to leave them or at least one of them "out of order" (I think I have an alternate save file for it and go back and forth) to give it a more authentic arcade feel because real arcades always have broken machines, no exceptions.

Damn shame the 2 CPS-2 Mega Man games never got ported to anything else.
Also a shame the GBA game that was supposed to have the 5 GB MM games got cancelled.
Perhaps they'll make a 3rd collection someday with all 7 + MM&B?
