19 I think. Off the top of my head, these are the /vr/ ones:
>Tomb Raider 1 and 2 expansions (Also Chronicles, but I did that 2 years ago and literally got halfway through the last level before my Dreamcast broke, only fixed it this year)
>Castlevania 1
>Sonic Chaos, Labyrinth and Mean Bean Machine (All GG versions, on Mega Collection Plus, sue me)
>Super Mario Land (First time I managed to play through the whole thing without freezing)
Playing through Shadow Warrior now, it's fun but I get burnt out on those games fairly quickly. It's also not as good as Duke, but I do enjoy it. After that I'm not sure what I'll play, I'm feeling more inclined to go to the PS2 / PS3 era now so I might give /vr/ stuff a miss for a bit, although I'm keen to play the TR3 expansion when I can be bothered to find a download.

Havent played any retro game in quite some time, waiting for my Everdrive to come so I can play my Megadrive a bit more.
Playing PSX games is a pain since I always need to wait after starting the console to play burned games.

Not him but I used to feel like this, always like I -had- to finish specific games despite being tired of them. Some games I would even feel pressured to finish as soon as possible taking shortcuts and not really getting the full experience. Really stupid. For some reason nowadays I can't stick to much of anything and if I delete a savefile with many hours on it, I can't give two shits about it. In the past, that has made me stop playing games I genuinely loved.

I've stopped playing video games. When I was a kid, I would read about games in Nintendo Power and they'd seem amazing. Once emulation became a thing I'd go and play those games I fantasized about as a kid only to be disillusioned.

It's better for the game to remain unplayed and magical in my heart than to face the reality that they're mediocre shovelware.

Fourteen games so far its not been more because I always end up wasting time thinking about what I want to play rather than picking something to play.
The list of games so far this year is as follows (in chronological order)
WarioWare: Touched! (Way to short of a game)
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (The best of all the Kirby games)
Final Fantasy Origins FF2 (Interesting system but flawed everything else)
Trauma Center: Under the Knife (Hand hurt so much it felt like I had arthritis after beating the sinners)
Half-Life (Played this while sick and disliked it need to play it again some time)
Donkey Kong Country (Childhood game I could never beat was just as hard as I remembered it being at points)
Zelda II: Links Adventure (Cool gameplay was much more fun once I realized you should grind first then finish the dungeon)
Jumping Flash! 2 (Good game but the indoor levels are garbage)
The Legend of Starfy (So easy it actually stopped being very engaging)
Silent Bomber (Fun to play but fuck the final boss)
Metroid (Suprisingly good only had to look up where the high jump boots where because I never though to go check Norfair)
Everywhere Road Trip (Fantastic game with more sidequest than nearly any other game I know
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (My first Igavania really good game need to go back and play Symphony of the Night now to compare)

This year has not been very retro filled but it is less "Bing Bing YAHOO!" than my list last year so that's nice.

Very nice selection anon, good taste on Kirby and DK, try the second one if you haven't, I'm about to, I want to see if it's as difficult as it was as a kid for me. I'd say Aria is a way better balanced game than Symphony and I prefer it to it, even if it's way less open-ended. Also, been meaning to play Silent Bomber myself, game does look fun as fuck.

And speaking of Warioware, if Touched was too short for you, play the 3DS one, it has some awesome infinite modes, been playing it in and out since it came out.

My motivation came from having almost no motivation for anything else, having a colossal backlog and always enjoying listening to game music after I beat them. It feels indescribably good to remember how it felt to play those parts.

Kunoichi's fun to use and a hottie but she's only my second favorite, Ninja's my man. His throws are fun as fuck to mess around with, you get those aoe nunchucks and even a Wario-like shoulder barge that makes grappling larger enemies easier. So much fun. Kamaitachi's fine but he's gotta be my least favorite, he enables button mashing the most out of the three and after playing with the other two, his throws feel really underwhelming, meh.

Also, Paper Mario is probably one of the easiest RPGs ever but if you don't mind that and kinf of kiddy setting, it can be a really fun world to explore, dialogue has a lot of love behind and it features the best version of Princess Peach in any Mario game. Combat system was great, of course, I recommend you to favor upgrading badge points, you'll have more fun this way.
