I think Spekkio and Kureji are even better because both of them use everything that was added in Frue and added some stuff like more sidecontent and a harder difficulty respectively.
I think vanilla Lufia 2 is fine unless you really want to experience the japanese version - Estpolis II - and in that case you might as well learn japanese and play that instead.
