What game let you down /vr/? All that endless fun i had in part 1 and when I finally played 2 I just turned it off.

This is probably one of the most overrated games ever. It was so hyped. I was told
>"HEY ANON! YOU LIKE SNES GAMES AND RPG'S RIGHT? YOU NEED TO TRY EARTHBOUND! IT'S LIKE THE BEST RPG SNES GAME EVER! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!"
about 1000 times before I decided to cave in and gave it a try. Well, I did more than try. I actually played all the way through it, and beat it. And it was boring as shit.

Nothing like the original. You go from world roaming and monster raising in 1 and in 2 it goes all RPG with an annoying beetle thing you drive around in.

Earthbound is not outright crappy, but it's a very fawed game. It's one of the weakest JRPGs I've ever played.

But a lot of things in it are very amusing. People who enjoy being mildly amuzed - the TV-watching type - are the ones praising it, and, obviously, such people are a majority.

OP answered the question for me. DW2 was one of the biggest disappointments of my early life.

Yeah I enjoyed DW3. It was pretty good. Never got to finish it though. I ended up moving homes around the time I had it and it got damaged during the packing.

It was the typical very atmospheric and fun but generic-ish game. My biggest gripe with it is the insane encounter rate, ESPECIALLY in the areas you travel the most because of insane backtracking.

I enjoyed DW2's dungeon crawling but I've never played DW1, so I can't compare

You gathered a party of 3 mons and rode around a fake-MMO Digimon World, trying to defeat hackers or some nonsense. Combat is VERY standard 1-on-1 JRPG fare, and there's a load of backtracking, but the overall game is very good.
