It's weird. The long animations, pacing, OTG attacks,... make it feel more like a 3D fighter than a 2D one. It's not bad when you're used to it, but it takes a long time to get how it works.
It's especially werid after playing the amazing AoF2.

on controller or keyboard it just feels wrong and the cpu doesn't even hold back it just goes in kill mode

but Art of fighting 2 did empress me with damaged sprites mid fight and how they even change their stance slightly

You may have the wrong approach.
VS. CPU matches in lots of SNK games, especially AOF, are less like fair matches and more like Punch-Out style puzzle fights where you have to discern some weakness in your enemy's fighting style and then exploit it.

MvC2, it's not even a contest for me. It has more problems than you can count but this isn't about the best retro fighter, it's about my favorite. Of all the things to get fucked over at Evo by Corona-chan, this one hurt the most because it was a special anniversary tournament.
