I'm kinda new to retro gaming. What n64 emulators do you reccomend. What games should I play?

Project 64 either on an old PC or on a new PC. In all seriousness, N64 emulation has come a long way in the last few years. Many anons will take this as a joke because N64 emulation was super shitty for so long.

Get a real system

Mupen64plus, or ParaLLEl on Retroarch if you have a strong CPU.

Not them, but what do you define as a strong enough CPU to run all that?

Not really avaliable in my country. I would be glad to get a system but a lot of them are fakes.

Not exactly sure if clock speed or cores is gonna be better in this case, but probably something like a Ryzen 2600 or 2700.

No, he meant the Atari Jaguar, the most influential and successful game console of all-time.
Boy, I remember them being in everyone's home and we'd all play Aliens Vs. Predator and bask in the glory of Atari triumphing over Nintendo and SEGA.

What kind of retardation is this?

That's who emulation works, guy. You need something approximately three to five times as powerful to emulate. Even if you want to just emulate SEGA CD on a modern PC, you're still asking the PC to mimic-not simulate-functions that the other chipset did, and that's to say nothing for how that taxes your PCs RAM;etc.

Even pic related is asking more than you think of your PC.

new to emulation i take it, needing more powerful hardware than you're emulating is a given, since you're not just running the target game directly, you're running it on an interpreter or recompiling the code just-in-time to your computer's cpu (no retro console uses an x86 cpu), then on top of that you need to also emulate various other chips (graphics, sound, I/O controller, etc) and their interactions with one-another on your cpu as well

shortcuts can be taken, and you can get away with surprisingly little extra power over the original system in certain cases, but typically this is at the cost of compatibility/accuracy
the step from "ok" to "accurate" is often a very large jump in requirements due to reasons too complicated to cover in a 4chan post
