Yu Yu Hakusho was the the first simultaneous 4 player console fighting game ever. An amazingly innovative game for its time that is still amazing to play now. Although it was never released in English there is a translation patch that has been out for a long time now. It was also the inspiration for all the 4 player fighting games that came games that would come after. And yes that includes Smash Bros.
