Well, that makes sense, but he's still using a frontend, real men don't do that. You got to grow up with command prompts if you want deserve using a PC. That's my view on it. And also for the "user friendly it just werks" interface.

Anyway, the essence of combat is the same, but there's an optional point-n-click interface in the VGA version which adds a tiny bit of depth to the combat (option to "slash" for higher damage but lower accuracy, or "thrust" for higher speed/accuracy but lower damage), on top of looking prettier and easier to tell when an enemy is attacking, so it's worth it to try and dodge/parry.

Not even by a long shot, in fact you could throw a dart at a board of all the PC platformers and pretty much have something like a 75% chance of hitting a better game outright. If you wanted an Epic platformer that didn't suck as much dong you could have at least gone with Jill for fucks sake.
Jazz had horrid physics and the gameplay was dong and the music was a mix of terrible to okay songs.

> but you have to admit Epic Pinball was a great PC pinball game.
I don't have to. Also like I said, pinball.
Who gives a shit.

So what?

My childhood says you suck. Back then, it wasn't Sonic for me, it was Jazz. And Jazz rocked.

The Tome Rebellion's one of those games I'd like to play one day.

And that list? It's missing The Realms of Haunting.

JAck Jazzrabit is basically a playable Sonic the Hedgehog. I really don't see how anyone could have a problem with that game.

No. Back then it wasn't sonic for you, it was jazz, and jazz sucked. But you loved that shitty game blindly.

Maybe a weird question, but how do you guys organize your DOS games folders? I'm getting kind of tired of wanting to fire up dosbox and then looking at this and having to run a couple of the games before I remember what the hell they are. I'm thinking by genre.

Well shit, nostalgia for a PC game, never thought I'd see the day.

I wouldn't bother, there are a bunch of DOS games that use hardcoded paths (the port of turrican comes to mind), you're bound to run into trouble sooner or later.

Man it sucks how many good 2.5D FPSes came out in the 90s but were ignored/forgotten for being "DOOM clones"

Lucasarts games actually work much better on ScummVM. It even fixes bugs in some of them.

like any other game, throw in the root of my drive

that said, i don't really keep most of the games (new or old) that i don't play a lot, so i always delete and redownload what i want.

Like every other game, in a separate properly named folder + direct launch shortcuts with custom image in steam.

okay, thanks for the input. i kind of enjoy the dosbox ritual at this point so i probably won't be doing custom shortcuts or anything like that. guess i'll go with my first instinct and organize it by genre or write up a txt to cross-reference.

>>652206
yeah, the shot i provided there was post trimming; i probably deleted 30 games i thought i would never play. the remaining ones are on my dos backlog.

"Work much better" is an hyperbole. There is just one small or two fixed by ScummVM but they're trivial stuff which rarely happened on the original game. But then again they haven't fixed stuff like the shaking speed, actor directions etc. since the very beginning.

Speaking of Sam&Max, ScummVM doesn't yet support Sam&Max OPL3 driver and defaults the OPL2 one. You're better off using DOSBox for it if you want the FM sound.

Man, that shit has the worst pinball physics in any game I've played.
