I have a PS2 slim which does not read discs anymore. Either the assembly does not spin or the optical reader doesn't seek; not sure which. It does run Banjo-Tooie, but I think it has to be a patched rom. The one I have is patched, at least, haven't tried a normal rip.
Though I'm pretty sure any updates are installed to the SD card, so you'll need to do that yourself anyways.

So my household is planning a yard sale soon and my roommates/possible future in-laws dug up their old N64 stock. All they wanna keep is the system, controller, Turok 2, and Zelda OoT and MM. They were kind enough to let me have a few titles for my own and a sweet golden controller in exchange for my services in getting rid of them.
