i really love this idea. and i wanted to hear some other games /vr/ would think is great for demakes

a metroid prime demake would be cool
or a ff8/9 demake in snes style
honestly all the final fantasy titles in retrostyle would be great
a devil may cry demake in the style of ninja gaiden/castlevania
a dk country demake for NES

>> No.6406171

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about if you don't know that this already exists.

wait really?

Pretty easy, that's why there's so many of them out there.

>>6406171
Yeah lol EVERYONE knows about DK Country NES lol OP you dimwit. What are you been livin' under a rock? Shoot even my gradma knows about it lol I was just telling her about it the other day. Maybe even the dog knows too! Please leave this board OP you clearly have not played many video games before let alone retro games. Grow up a little... will ya? Bye!!

Hahaha. Look I know you are just being a weiner but I'll let you off easy this time. OK? Don't shoe in where no one asked. Get my message? In any event OP try out Donkey Kong Country regular mode on Super Nintendo. I personally don't feel the demake was very good. It wasn't as nice as the original. I enjoyed the original CG graphics which the demake did not effectively capture. When you demake a game usually you have to reduce the graphical quality a bit to make it compatible with original regular Nintendo hardware. So the graphics get worse! I don't know why anyone would like to play a game where the graphics or worse, so I'm stickin' to the Super Nintendo! Hahaha. Bye!!

also DKC already got demade, play the Land trilogy and the GB port

Most of those games dont need demakes, because of prior entries in the series. If I were to make a few demakes, it would be
>kingdom hearts in the style of secret of mana
>luigi's mansion in the style of sweet home
>resident evil as a crpg like fallout/wasteland
>onimusha like the last ninja
>bushido blade like samurai showdown.
>metal gear solid as a point n click adventure game.

>> No.6406245

now that is a list.

Cringe like that is very easy if you have any skills. Fortunately people with any skills rarely waste their time on shit like that. Actual demakes on older hardware can be relatively easy if you pick a game can can be de-done well on that platform. Most are also cringe but at least maybe hilariously so.

>> No.6406517

Are you planning on using real hardware or just in the style for PCs?
Because the answer to the former is it's as hard as homebrew, as the answer to the latter it's as hard as making any retro styled game.
I imagine just making it a retro-styled game on PCs is the easiest. There'll be a lot more tutorials and while you can still be accurate to the original hardware's restrictions if you do your research, it means you won't have to deal with edge case hardware quirks.
As for what I would like to see demade.
>Bravely series in the SNES FF style.
>Pokemon Platinum in the style of Pokemon Crystal.
>The console Mega Man X games made for the NES, using the style of the Xtreme games.
>Sonic Adventure games in the style of the classic Genesis trilogy
>Banjo & Kazooie for GBC, like we were going to get at one point.
>Super Mario 64 for the SNES, keeping Mario's expanded moveset and Star-collecting focus.

I'd rather make upgrades and not downgrades.

This sounds like something you could recreate if you're well versed in programming and a little sprite art. Dunno if Konami would bitch at it but eh, seems worth trying.

Any ActionRPG using a modified Zelda2 style as gameplay would be real neat. Morrowind in that style would be a fun idea.

>> No.6408380

First you need to learn to do romhacks since demakes are basically extensive romhacks of the game you're doing the other game "in the style of"

Just play the gba game
>Super Mario 64 for the SNES, keeping Mario's expanded moveset and Star-collecting focus.
Ever hear of dk '94 or Mario vs. donkey Kong?
All the others don't need the demake because of prior entries in the series, but bravely default would be cool af in snes ff style. You gotta branch out more with the styles to make it worthy of a demake.

>> No.6408903

>>6408879
The GBA game isn't the same since the GBC game was going to be a side-scroller if the sprites are anything to go off of.
Also yes I have played DK 94, it was pretty damn fun, but they don't have open levels and you don't have the dive or long jump.
Mega Man X games have a different feel from the Classics so them being on NES wouldn't be that similar to previous entries. And if you mean too similar to the Xtreme games, having that extra screen space from the NES is nice.
Sonic Adventure could see the other gameplay styles in 2D. Hacks have already done Emerald Hunting stages, but I'd like to see Gamma sections in 2D as well.
For Platinum, it's a more personal thing of Sinnoh being my favorite region, so I'd like to see it in the GBC style.

>> No.6408923

>>6408903
That's way too much man. The Xtreme megamans are good enough, the x series only really added the dash. Sonic has 2d games that are arguably better than it, no need for a demake there. Sinnoh is good, I like platinum and diamond and pearl, Im a shiny hunting autist who uses the shiny charm glitch, buts it's just not different enough for what a remake should entail. Rethink your decisions and try and find ways that other retro game styles would shine for that specific demake.

Also, without dk '94, there would be no sm64. I prefer dk' 94 over sm64, it's just so fucking good.

>> No.6408964

Just because the majority of idiots are only familiar with Donkey Kong Land doesn't make it a demake. Final Fantasy VII Famicom is a demake. The games OP and >>6406224 are conceptualizing are most possible as romhacks.

I want to make (for PC) a FF1 version with Zelda-combat style. I got stuck because I need to pick apart every element used while rendering the map (using the gba/psx graphics), so I may restart using FF3 nes graphic style. Another important matter is how to handle enemy sprites, I think I will steal them from FF mystic.
