Hey /vr/, before you hover over the spoiler text, I want you to picture in your head a list of your top 20-or-so games of all time. Don't stress too hard about it, just put the first ones that come to your head. After you've done that, tell us which is the absolute oldest game on that list.

Space Quest 3 easily. Most of the rest are mid to late 90s with a few early 90s and a couple non retro. It's not the oldest game I played but it's the oldest I still enjoy.

Either Boulder Dash or Pepper 2.
Ms Pac Man may or may not count, since my favorite version is on the MD.

I couldn't make a list of the top 20 games of all time. There are just too many genres. Probably something like Warlords or Zork though.

Joust (1982) if we're not counting pinball machines as games and Paragon (1979) if we are. They're definitely rough by today's standards, but I'm happy to support them as some of the best games ever made. Joust's gameplay is frantic and timeless; pterodactyl kills are additionally an early example of the "tough-but-rewarding" cool tech I appreciate in games. On the other hand, Paragon utilizes its playfield space in a way few pinball games do today, where everything has a purpose.
