Alundra. Heard about it LONG ago and always been meaning to play it. Middle of the desert dungeon and so far I'm enjoying it. My one big issue is that it's really platform heavy and at times it's just hard gauging the elevation of some of the platforms which makes it kind of frustrating. Plus feels like there's a lot of pixel perfect platforming which never feels good. But in it mostly for the dungeon puzzles which so far is pretty nice.

The Metal Gear game on the NES is a pretty crude port from the original MSX game, and has a lot of faults.
Snake's Revenge was an 'unauthorized' sequel by another devteam, brought on by the first one's sales success, Hideo Kojima wasn't involved in it, and doesn't consider it canon to his intended series. When the lead dev of Snake's Revenge went to apologize for "going behind Kojima's back like that" Kojima replied that he had no hard feelings, and thought it was a pretty good game anyway.

It's a pretty solid game.

Because Nintendo uses special emulators specific to each game that adds tons more code to the games themselves to work well.

This image perfectly illustrates what I loved about OoT until I began to hate it (soon after it came out, I mean): the game was getting so good in kid mode, with tons of great powerups and a bright world, but after you become an adult, you get all your shit taken from you and you only get shitty, boring items and weapons for adult mode. Sad. Maybe this is why I always liked Majora's Mask way more.

Majora's Mask is just the better designed game overall, a lot more intriguing items and powers to play around with and more clever dungeon layouts. It's also paced a lot better, OoT has a lot of moments where you go, "oh, THAT part" and I can't really say the same for Majora's Mask aside from the admittedly pretty awful pre-dungeon segment for Dungeon 4.

Feel the issue is the world just feels grander when you are Kid Link. MM and WW is the same where your character have to look up when talking to an adult. It just makes you feel so small in such a big world. I still feel Adult parts are fine but the feeling isn't as strong as the first part.

Never fucking mind I know how now. Turns out you can very easily cheese him by blocking his kick bombs with your body, that makes him eat the explosion every time. That's how.

Two hours redoing this fucker and that long ass last level after losing to him and the solution turned out to be something like that.

Thanks to another successful but now-deceased Phantasy Star thread here on /vr/ from last week, I'm going back and replaying the 16-bit sequels again, back to back. First up is PSII. I'm using Fauntleroy's "Modernization" hack to spice things up, though.

I was gonna hold off on replaying PSII for awhile but it seems M2 won't be working on a Sega Ages: Phantasy Star II any time soon.

Really? Who even cares about N64 outside of America?
>soon every N64 game will be perfectly ported over to PC
For windows 10 and direct10 only, into the trash can it goes.

Thanks, anon, tried this and it did wonders to Mario64, but Zelda looks way worse, it so much harder on the eyes and I don't think my video card can handle it well.

Technically yes since the ROMs are edited sometimes, as in the case for OoT, but other than that, no. Talking about the moon shield vs. the updated and less aesthetic shield.
>>second golden age of video games
I was being facetious there, but it will help us get lots of cheap Wii-power-tier into places where it already should have been, think novelties.

>what does it change
A lot of small changes to make the game more like PSIV while still being its own game:
- party members got tweaked a bit to more fit the role they play: new spells, learn their skills earlier, can equip more weapons/armors of their preferred type, recruited with top-tier equipment already equipped up to that point
- dialogue text is updated, making intent more clearer. Abbreviations lessened, goodbye MOTA, hello Motavia.
- Kain talks like a Brit now, for some reason
- menu text cleaned up a bit, menu boxes resized to fit more characters
- some Techs have been enhanced to be more versatile (ex: Kain's machine-only techs now harm demon-types too and even Dark Force).
- doubled EXP/MST to reduce the need for grinding
- some palette tweaks
- two town names switched because it's "more accurate to PSIV"... yeah, Fauntleroy tends to do shit like that with his hacks
- the usual bug fixes

I'm only up to Roron but so far the changes don't seem bad, really makes the game less like a slog. Just wish it had Fast Walking like other hacks.

well, it's the difference between wanting to play pixel perfect or not. with angrylion, you're stuck at a low resolution, but this doesn't really bother me since the other options, while offering higher resolution, won't give you a 1:1 output of an n64, which is what I'm interested in. i also just think that those low polygon models were never intended to be viewed at such high resolutions anyway

You could possibly make it work with SDL_GameControllerDB:

Someone linked a web browser port of SM64 the other day, so I went and beat it for the first time on a whim. I had played it several times in the past and never finished it (in large part because the camera would always piss me off), but I stuck through it, and honestly, the zoomed out Mario camera isn't that bad (although still fucky sometimes). Funnily enough, after playing through it once, I'm going back and playing through it again with the analog camera mod, and it kind of makes me appreciate the original camera setup.

Sri Lankan and Burmese Buddhist can be pretty violent and extreme. Just a few years ago, a bunch of Burmese monks led civilian militias through Yangon and other cities to destroy businesses and homes owned by non-Buddhists.
Sri Lanka has had Buddhist extremism for quite a while now, but it's not as overt and common as in Myanmar/Burma. Every now and again, the Buddhists will bomb a bunch of Muslims.
Oddly enough, the Muslims bomb Christians, but seldom retaliate on the Buddhists.
Also, weren't those fuckwits who set off sarin bombs in the Tokyo metro a Buddhist NRM? Andd speaking of Japanese Buddhism, Nichiren is pretty fucking radical in its own right.
Radicalism, extremism and violence exist in most-to-all movements, be they religious or otherwise. Even Quakerism has its violent African sects.

If you've never played that game on a CRT or two for a long time, you could be forgiven for thinking it was some type of CRT, possibly one with shadow masking (which I think sucks for retro games and makes 'em look like shit) .
