I have played this stupid game a lot since I was a kid and I can't fucking get past world 8-3

the secret is you basically just jump over anything that looks scary until you get to the end

you can also jump on top of some things but not if they look like fire or spikes or a dinosaur wizard king

there's some other useful things too but those are the basics

Where in 8-3 do you usually get stuck? Maybe we can help. Let us know the general time in the below video. Hammer bros are tough, especially on flat ground, but if you run towards them at full speed they will always enter the screen by jumping, allowing you to run underneath them or jump over them on their way back down before they start tossing hammers.

This. There's still a chance of getting killed by a hammer, but if don't hesitate to jump really high while running, most likely they won't touch you.
Alternatively, try to reach the level as super mario and kill the hammer bros easily with fireballs.

It's at around the 0:12 mark, when the hammer bros appear.
Didn't notice that they always spawn jumping when you run.

I got stuck in Dragon's Trap, like right near the end. too proud to use a guide and it's been so long I'd have to start over. Probably I'll never beat it.
