Why doesn't this game use the analog sticks?

do these not throw out LS analogue output to the ps1? Are they really just glorified dpads?

rrt4 was for pic related

it was released a week before ape escape.

Did Sony make the PSX support analog inputs before they released analog controllers ?

>> No.6393404

>>6393092
They use a special mode built-in to the PS1 libraries, some games support it and others don't.
And basically no PS1-to-USB adapter supports it.

Untrue. I used both my white and black neGcons with Retroarch. The black, cheap single adapter might not work, but the dual ones do. They're shaped like a triangle, some are black, some are blue. I don't like using them now, though, they're a pain and don't have enough buttons. Now I've moved onto a Steam controller and use the gyro for racing games.

I have a game I could say this about but it's not retro. Infuriates me, though.

At least unlike some other ps1 racers it actually controls well just using the dpad

Its the first ridge racer game to do so as (iirc) rage racer does not. The game is smooooth on analog compared to digital controls.

How is porsche challenge analog in any shape or form? It predates the analog controller for ps1 and doesn't support the likes of the negcon or anything else. You need to expand upon your statement as at face value it is gibberish.

Just wanted to back this guy up. That blue triangle works with everything. As does the magic joy box and that weird one with a DC, Xbox, GC and PS2 port on it. Dance pads, guitars, neg con and all dual shocks.

It's interesting as it supported the analogue controller way before they were available in the West. It didn't support dual shock (as in the vibration function of it) though if I remember rightly, only the original Japanese analogue pad spec.
