am i the only one who thinks the american SNES looks like ass? purple just doesn't look good at ALL, and the power/reset toggles are all blocky and shit. i much prefer the european and japanese looks, with the multi-colored buttons and more rounded design. what do you all think though?

I don't see it, OP. It looks good.
I don't see why "purple just doesn't look good at ALL", what's the reason behind that? The light grey/purple combination seems very fitting.
I also don't see what's wrong with blocky toggles, it's a geometrical shape... what's the bad thing about it?

No, just about everyone prefers the Japanese and European design. They did the same thing to the American design of the PC-Engine/TG16. Thankfully the megadrive was already big enough that it didn't have to have any design changes.

Not a good example. The TG-16 looks signficiantly larger than the tiny PC Engine.
The SNES and SFC have the same size.
You're thinking about NES vs Famicom.

I don't think there's any reason to like one and dislike the other (other than "I grew up with it", or "I'm a zoomer hipster trying to fit in"). Both look pretty good, it's good we have 2 different alternative versions of the same system, that isn't the american one being HUEG for no reason, like NES or TG-16 were.
