Gonna post the obvious pick of the three Turrican games, quality games.
Silkworm and SWIV are great shooters and fun two player games.
I have a soft spot for Hard Drivin 2, but I doubt it would hold up for anyone that didn't play it back in the day.

Only depends on what you're willing to pay. An upgraded A1200 is probably enough if you want to play games. People(like me) who are more into the productivity and graphics/video stuff on the Amiga own roided out A2000, A3000 and A4000 systems.

I can think of tons of recs, here's some:
Midwinter 1+2
Hunter
Starglider 2
Frontier: Elite 2
Mr Nutz: Hoppin Mad
Ishar series
4D Sports Driving
Microprose F1 Grand Prix
Stunt Car Racer
Alien Breed series
Archipelagos
Ambermoon
Laser Squad
Breach 1+2
FA-18 Interceptor
...honestly one of the the Amiga's greatest strengths in its game library are flight sims, anything by Microprose is a safe bet

If you're talking about gaming only:
68030-accelerated A1200
68000-accelerated revision 6A A500 (ACA500plus or Wicher 508i)
stock rev 6A A500 with KS 1.3
stock A500 with KS 1.2
stock A1200
The reason for this ordering is that if you want to go the WHDLoad/HD installed games route the first two options are by far the best, not dealing with floppy loading times is a godsend. Having a more powerful CPU will increase the performance of most 3D games by a significant amount, a Wicher 508i will shit all over a stock A1200 if you can get stable 50mhz. A stock A500 has far better compatibility than a stock A1200 which is why I recommend it over the A1200 despite the A1200 having better specs, but you definitely want a rev 6A over other revisions if you ever decide you want to pimp it out, being able to bump the chip ram from 512k to 1MB is far easier on that rev than earlier revs and benefits a lot with being able to load tracker mods that are >380k in size in Protracker/etc. I have no opinion on A500+, A600 or the big box models
>>6384948
>Hard Drivin 2
>every type of surface is ice: the driving game
Absolutely horrible when I tried to play it again this year, I did have the soundtrack ripped on a floppy disk back in the 90s and used to listen to it a lot back in the day. 4D Sports Driving is far superior for something similar to Hard Drivin

Depends on the use. If it's for practical purposes and desk space is no issue:
A4000>A1200>A3000>A500+>A600>A2000>A500>A1000
Explained:
AGA>ECS>OCS
Bigbox>Keyboard because expansion abilities.
Exceptionally, A500>A1000 because A500 has better chipset, was the most popular model ever and thus has a lot of expansions, modern and old.
A500+>A600 because A600 is a bitch to expand, and there's plenty of easy to install HDD/CF solutions for A500+.
Of course, if you're a collector, then the criteria is different, and the less common machines are more appealing.

>> No.6387848

>>6387278
Yes, definitely. But you'll possibly want to wait for modern, open hardware cpu cards, rather than get a classic expansion.
There's an ongoing wave of these.

There was a brief period in history where the Amiga and trackers were "the shit" as opposed to just shit. I enjoyed it at the time and appreciate it's "historical significance" but have long since moved on and understand there are few reasons to have an Amiga today and one of them certainly isn't if you "do music".

As a kid, I had a 500 and I always loved Technocop.
My favourite game, though, was a copy of Space Wars (with a Star Destroyer vs Enterprise) from a magazine demo disk. My brother and I wasted many dozens (hundreds?) of hours blasting and shit talking each other.

I have an Amiga Sampler since the 90's, what's with these youtuber comments? If you're into sampling the Amiga is great for music since it colors the sounds and you can apply processing on top by lowering the sample rate in order to get interesting artifacts on the samples among other FX. Octamed is great too, still has things that Renoise doesn't.

I'd recommend a disk-on-module instead of CompactFlash for internal storage, as disk-on-modules are quite literally SSDs that use the PATA interface. Obviously not as fast as SATA SSDs, but you at least have the reliability that CompactFlash does not have. Something like this:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Zheino-44PIN-IDE-PATA-SSD-DOM-8GB-SLC-16GB-32GB-64GB-MLC-Horizontal-Socket-Industrial-Disk/32682341663.html
Absolutely get a 1MB chip RAM upgrade, make sure it has a RTC and battery to store the time and date. There's only one current CPU accelerator that I'm aware of (the Furia), if you're lucky you might be able to pick up an used ACA630, sadly it doesn't appear that pure 68000 accelerators exist for the 600 if you wanted optimal compatibility.
