about mega man. Let's avoid the obvious "tightest gameplay currently on the market", "music that did for retro-gaming what Beethoven and Vivaldi did for classical music", "groundbreaking mechanics", "unlimited continues, which at the time was rare", "Einstein type level design" etc.

Let's appreciate the finer points though.

I''ll start with a list of things that make me a happy motherfucker:
> when going to the next screen, it shifts slowly and the player's height is preserved
> In 2 (I think) when you jump on your jet, you actually get pushed couple of steps back as it accelerates
> you can skip most enemies if you don't feel like fighting
> there are opportunities to farm lives and shit if you need to
> in some games there are items that, if used with skill, make you feel like a God (arrows in 5, melons in XSF)
> Mega Man X Street Fighter is a thing
> Mega Man Minus Infinity is a thing
> Mega Man Unlimited is a thing
> Generally one of the most active modding communities on 8-bit scene
> Mega Man 11 SO FUCKING TIGHT BROS

I'll add more as I remember

I think the X games are better than the original series. I just think they're a lot more fun. Even the SNES entry for OG, VII, just wasn't as good as any of the three X games on SNES.

Let's face it, you're comparing cucumbers to peppers.

I agree with this guy, growing up with the X series is part of it, but X just literally lends itself better to replays, no matter how good you are at the original series there's no dash, and the slide doesn't function in the same way, and that's by design sure but the stages aren't exactly short and I usually feel after a single playthrough of an original series game I'm good for a while, but with the armor stuff plus dashing plus Zero it makes replays of the X series much more fun for me, personally

no armor runs of X5 are my favorite

I genuinely wonder, since MM11 has a native PC version, have people tried modding that game? I'm aware that most games are designed to prevent modding by obfuscating data as much as possible, but that hasn't stopped diehard fans from digging into it. Curious as to what would happen if they removed the 60FPS and 16:9 locks, they'd probably break the game.

megaman 11 is mnot retro was released last year is a dx11 game.
rockman 9 & rockman 10 are forgiven since they look as 8 bit games (maybe someone could port it to nes, similar to indivisible) yet they are wii games no one will talk of those here.

This is a list of games which are retro
.- Rockman 1 to 6
.- Rockman 7
.- Rockman & Forte
.- Rockman 8
.- Rockman X to X6
.- Rockman Megaworld
.- Rockman Dash
.- RockMan X: Cyber Mission
.- RockMan X2: Soul Eraser
.- RockMan: The Power Battle
.- Super Adventure Rockman

And those would be the ones to talk here.

Classic died after 6.
>"music that did for retro-gaming what Beethoven and Vivaldi did for classical music"
That would be Final Fantasy, Mega Man is more Chuck Berry
Otherwise you are correct.

Looks more like a flamboyant version of Mega Man than Roll.

Most MM fan games just don't get it. Unlimited is pretty much the only good one but even they had to add some of their shit because they love the smell of it.

One of the coolest characters in all robot media with an actual interesting motivation and background is trapped in a dead series.

Fuck Capcom man, I will never not be mad about this.

The worst offender is that MM11 was the first time he was nowhere to be seen in the game since he first appeared in MM3.

I have to agree. The X games just have really sleek movement and reward you more for optimized play and routes. I admit I'm biased because I grew up with the X games and later the Zero games. I will give it to the classic series for consistency though, the only classic series game I didn't like was Megaman 8.

He'll be back eventually, I think there's a good chance for MM12 to give him a bit of the spotlight like how 11's story was about Wily and Light.

X Street Fighter and Minus Infinity are garbage. Even Super Fighting Robot is a far superior fan game.

The closest you have to that is that one episode of the Megaman cartoon where X meets Rock. I think it was the final episode even.
