So I'm starting to pick up my N64 collection again now that I have a bit of spare cash. According to this delightful website, there isn't a whole hell of a lot for the console that would bleed my wallet dry, thankfully.

http://videogames.pricecharting.com/console/nintendo-64?sort-by=highest-price

I already have a lot of the more common, core games for it as I had one growing up. Still have everything I had back then and I've been buying stuff here and there. That said, outside of the obvious titles I'm a bit lost. Any suggestions for a budding N64 collector? Some overlooked gems? Some day I hope to have at least a loose copy of every game released in North America, even if it's shit like Madden.

I think I'm going to try and get Conker as soon as possible but I can't say I'm in a hurry to pick up "International Superstar Soccer 2000" for $80. Yeesh.

You can mod an NTSC-U N64 really easily to play Japanese titles. There were a few jp only gems, and the ones I liked of the ones I played:

>Shiren the Wanderer
>Wonder Project j2
>Nushi Tsuri (Legend of the River King sequel)
>Evangelion (may be because I'm a big NGE fan though)
>Animal Forest (Animal Crossing 64)

Hope you'll like them.

I recommend Ogre Battle 64 and Hybrid Heaven a lot. And if you are really starved for N64 RPGs, there are always Aidyn Chronicles and Quest 64. I wish there were more N64 RPGs though, I've always loved the N64 graphical style.

Oh, and Sin and Punishment of course

You forgot Bomberman 64

Speaking of JP exclusives, Custom Robo is badass. Also, see if you can find "Dezaemon" somewhere. Haven't tried it myself, but a design-your-own-shmup sounds fun as hell.

It's expensive, but if you can get your hands on a copy, get this. It takes the gameplay of the first Bomberman 64 and mixes it up by giving you elemental bombs after betting bosses, not unlike Mega Man. You get ice bombs to freeze water, wind bombs that shoots you across gaps, etc. Really good late release game.

I've been looking at that, is it playable despite the moonrunes?

Did Rare do anything that was good for consoles other than snes and 64?

>> No.641508

>>641469
Well, at the very least you'll have to learn katakana, but preferably hiragana as well. Kanji's always a bitch, but it isn't that heavy in this game, and OCCASIONALLY there are furigana to help you out with those.

what's the most expensive price I should pay for a used Majora's Mask?

>> No.641574

>>641560
You can probably find it for 15-20 if you shop around.

>> No.641590

>>641560
Yeah - it's not an uncommon game by any means. The only thing that might justify a higher price is it's undoubtedly a game people want to play.

Don't pay more than $30 for it - not including shipping.

If you live in the middle of nowhere and mail has to be dropped from a helicopter $40-$50 at the ABSOLUTE FUCKING MOST

look at this list. Look at it. Nintendo games retain their value, but dropping $10 here and there for the rest is ridiculous. Once youve got your big N games, get an N64 flash cart.

Oh geeze, I thought this thread was going to get purged last night. I guess I'm still not used to /vr/'s slower pace. Awesome though, thanks for the suggestions guys. I just edited the list above from the anon that posted it earlier, took out all the games I own and added the few others mentioned in the thread that had NA releases. Not planning on getting JP games just yet, as for some reason people tend to charge more just because something came from Japan. Hell, look at orange GCNs. I think this is a pretty sizable list to work on though for the moment.

I'm also somewhat interested in collecting the various console colors but for the most part those seem to be just a matter of throwing money at eBay whenever you see someone that DIDN'T take the RAM pack and its cover out and sell them separate from the gutted console. Got the jungle green one less than a week ago for $60. Actually had the expansion pack, cover for it, and a perfectly functional controller.

On that note, if anyone feels like posting their N64 collection go right ahead, I always like seeing the variety of stuff that came out for it.

>> No.644171

If you can find it, Hybrid Heaven is worth at least checking out. I might be biased though because I'm a bit more lenient on games that let me suplex aliens.
