Does it get any faster than this when it comes to retro games?

I was just playing this earlier, I don't think I've ever experienced the pure speed this game offers in any other /vr/ game

Same here. It's a shame that Nintendo leaves behind the IP's that made their company great.

Kind of sucks. Although not retro GX was also great and then it ended there. I guess it was poor sales?

To be fair F-Zero is always cheating because the courses are insanely long stretches of roller coaster tracks that mostly go straight

That game is pushing 2 decades old fren.

He means it doesn't fit the /vr/ criteria.
Personal definitions of what's "retro" or what isn't doesn't apply here. I personally think video games as a whole can't be retro, they're too modern. Retro is mechanical games.

/vr/'s criteria is outdated af. For the sake of perspective, F-Zero GX is now closer to the North American release of the original Legend of Zelda than we are currently to the release of F-Zero GX.

Probably not, just a shame about the mono soundtrack, boring tracks and annoying fans

>/vr/'s criteria is outdated af.
As I said, I think it's not outdated, if anything too permissive. I just can't see video games as a whole as "retro", myself. But we all have out own perceptions. At the end of the day /vr/'s rules are clear: systems frim 1999 and before only. It doesn't matter if you believe that 20 years is retro, or if I believe that only 50 years or older is retro.
>F-Zero GX is now closer to the North American release of the original Legend of Zelda than we are currently to the release of F-Zero GX.
The whole "[x] is now closer to [x] than [x]" argument always seemed pointless to me. The year 1999 is still there, in a point in time, it doesn't matter how many years have passed.

GX has good gameplay but Jesus, the music and the cutscenes don't even hold up in a campy way. F Zero X is the peak imo, and I skipped it originally when it released, only played it recently

It's ugly because they cut down on graphics to improve on performance. Would you rather have a slow and clunky WipEout?

wipeout was nowhere near fast. F-Zero runs on 60 fps. Extreme-g is up there, but no cigar. Pic related is the only one close enough.
