Do PS1 and Saturn even have a "trademark" sound? I never listened to anything and went "yep, this sounds like PS1/Saturn music", like it happens with NES, Mega Drive or SNES.
N64 does have its own trademark soundfront though, like the music on Super Mario 64's menu, but I can't think of anything that stands out as characteristic of the other 2 5th gen systems.
I also know most of their games didn't actually use Redbook audio, so they do use the system's own sound, but I just can't remember any example of "Playstation-sounding music", or Saturn-sounding music.
The Nights music immediately makes me think of Saturn, yes, but more because I've had the Saturn with nights since back in the 90s, so I relate it to the Saturn, but I can't really say any of it actually sounds "like Saturn". Not sure if I'm being clear.

why though? that only makes sense for analog formats like vinyl or tape, with digital audio like CDs expensive cables don’t matter, if the information is passing then that’s it, only the DAC and speakers matter, and there are much better options than PS1 now
