It's an issue with copyright laws that badly needs to be resolved. Copyright terms were 28 years (with one renewal for another 28) for 140 years until the Copyright Extension Act of 1976 changed it to 75, effective on all IPs created 1/1/78 and later. So unfortunately the 75 year term would apply to 98% of all video games ever made and only Pong or something like that would be covered by the old 28 year term.

piracy is dying right now sadly so your argument piracy will never die is just a pathetic dream you want to keep.
for example the scenes are dissapearing because there isn't new blood on the group,the so called new crackers are lucky bastards that made X game work but just once after that the game failed to load,same as games made for retro consoles they have some special security and won't work outside the console and there are no crackers just a dumpèr that made a good job dumping the game but no one cracked it (i'm talking of pier solar the game made by scammer fonzi) for example i have seen some games released on snes that got cracked but that scene died some years ago so there is no one to crack snes or megadrive games leaving us with useless roms that can't be played (they won't work on flash cartridge or emulators) so is clear that piracy is dying (well pirates are dying and the new ones are just scammers that want money for a fake stuff)
