She's one of the better female character arcs in the series (although completely BURIED by Yuna) but as much as I love the story of FFVIII (and I do) she never really made that big of an impact on me.

Rikku is the same archetype as Yuffie except midway through the game when you reach the Al Bhed place she actually starts to have real thoughts about things not pertaining to just being a perky thief. She's not amazing, but there it is. Also, I thought FF13 and 13-2 were amazing, let the hate commence.

How so? Aeris is driven and cunning, Tifa is consumed by a basic hatred of Shinra and love of Cloud. I mean, if you want to call that multi-dimensional, it's not the worst assortment of motivations, but it's nothing unique in the context of the game.

Everyone always talks about how much they hate Squall, but I thought he was great for the first couple disks. Everyone around him was bothersome, so I sympathized with his frustration. And despite that, he acted responsible and professional.

I can't remember one thing she really did that stands out besides the fact she has a dog, and that's doesn't really count as something she did. Also the time she was controlled by Ultimecia or whatever on that space shuttle... again not even her own actions.

Hell, annoying as she was at least Selphie actually did stuff and showed interest in trains and the life. Quistis was admittedly the crush of my childhood because them glasses + she used a whip (I was a fucked up kid, now a fucked up adult).

She's not the worst interest but just she felt sort of there. I can't quote even one thing she ever said.
