I've turned the internet from the inside out looking for it and only thing I got were hash values. I've been spending a full 2012 and a half 2013 looking for it and even written a 4 page long email to some french collectors only to go full beta at end, leaving it in the drafts for all times to come.

There's were even some 2deep4u hackers on the jewtubes with 2 minutes long COOLINTRO claiming to own it and listing the differences when in reality they were hacking a later pilot disc only to make their dick look amazing with "LOOK AT ALL THIS STUFF". I even know how to access the final game's debug menu using a single line of gameshark for fuck's sake and they spend their time makebelieving some "LOOK AT ALL THESE EARLY GLITCHES" vidoes while in reality they're just fucking out the memory bounds and they think they're smart.

The thing I want the absolute most might sound silly, but I really want it.

It's the rug that went underneath the Gamecube demo consoles at GameStops. It was just a carpet with the GC logo on it, but it would mean a lot to me.

I spent so much time visiting GameStops to stand on that carpet and play the demo games.

>inb4 hurdur underage

The GameCube was released 12 years ago.

>inb4 hurdur not retro

You got me there. 2001.

If anybody knows where I could find one of the carpets my life would be infinitely improved. I've only seen one collector who had one.

Ten years should be the retrogame limit.

Shit, I just went up to my old boarding school for my ten year reunion and walked into my old dorm...and there's a student sitting in front of the TV playing a gamecube exactly where I used to sit. If it'd been Wind Waker instead of Sonic Heroes I would have actually been creeped out.

I'd love some of those kiosk consoles. M82, M8, the two variants on Super Famicom Box.

And not retro by board definition, but this, a fully portable GameCube, with WODE built in. The guy who makes them charges ~$1000 for a commission though, an at that price I keep telling myself I'd be better off waiting a year or two for the Android port of Dolphin to reach playable framerates and just get a decent phone for that instead.

People building portable gamecubes tend not to include the disk drive; both for space, since they take up a lot of room and when building a portable device space is a premium, and stability. you don't want it scratching any discs or even just the disc falling out if you're moving it around. Instead, they either use a Wiikey, which can be wired to a gamecube, or a WODE, as was done in the example in that post,

Maybe. Still, the only way to do something really is to just get up and do it. Last summer I was pretty depressed, and then I saw a clip on youtube of Jack White making a simple guitar (diddley bow) out of a plank, some nails, a bottle, a single string, and a busted pickup. I thought, hey, I can do that. So I did. It sounds awesome. Then I built a ukulele out of an altoids tin, a banjo out of a cigar box, a flute from PVC, etc etc

It extended to games, too, with my replacing the caps in my GG, putting in LEDs instead of that awful bulb backlight, frontlighting my GBC, and building a PSP out of two busted PSPs.

You just kinda decide to do something and then force yourself to follow through. Start with something like taking a frontlight out of a busted GBA SP and making it play nice with a spare GBC.

I've never made a handheld version of a console before, but there's lots of documentation out there now. You just gotta get out there and do it.

Just sharing my experience. I found that nothing helped more with feeling helpless and depressed than actually throwing myself head first into doing something. If that sounds impulsive, it completely was. I literally stood up after seeing that video, went to my basement, found some scrap wood, chugged a beer, cleaned out the bottle, and set to work. Half an hour later, I had a fully functioning acoustic one string guitar. Works great for playing blues tunes.

Ever since then, I try to always have something to do. It's done wonders. I lost weight, feel better about myself, and now I'm rapidly becoming a reliable handy-man.

Polite sage for not being about a retro vidya item that I covet greatly.

It shouldn't be so hard to find considering that they were at every GameStop. I know they threw stuff out when they were done with it, but I can't even find a picture of one on the internet. There has to be a place with at least some information on these carpets/rugs.
