Duckman is 100% accurate to the show and is in general a very funny/good point and clicker with the entire voice cast including Tim Curry (except Jason Alexander), but the guy they got for Duckman is pretty good anyway.

Can this be a "retro IPs that should have gotten their own video game" thread in general?

Nah, a lot of shows coulda gotten crappy platformers if they had just sold the rights to anybody. Point and clicks of the 90's like Duckman or Beavis & Butthead in Virtual Stupidity took effort

Ducktales would have made for a great point & click adventure.

>Play as Scrooge McDuck
>Walk around in his mansion
>Go outside and visit locations in Duckburg
>Unlock other locations ala Indy4 as the story progresses
>CD version has actual voice Ducktales voice cast.

Would probably look best with the "bigger" artwork style as seen in Day of the Tentacle/Full Throttle.

I would have loved a Roger Rabbit adventure game in the style of Toonstruck.

>Walking around as a digitized Bob Hoskins sprite

Would have been amazing to see a digitized Bob Hoskins in a drawn Toontown, and then later a drawn Roger in a digitized background of L.A.

It's strange how The Simpsons was never made into an actual point & click adventure game.
we got platformers, puzzle games, virtual springfield, weird platform/racing combos, gta clones. but never a monkey island like adventure.
you'd think it would be perfect for an adventure game.

>Homer does something dumb
>Guide Homer through Springfield solving his problem.
>Talk to tons of characters from the show.

And its not like it came too late, Simpsons was 1989. so would have been perfect for the 1992 VGA style adventure games.

Toonstruck was really ahead of its time in the tech but apparently it was awful to work on because the digital cameras they were using were prone to failing, it was incredibly expensive and Christopher Lloyd got so frustrated one day he just lost it and walked off the set. Especially as he had to do all the movements for walking and picking stuff up at different takes and different walk cycles and they kept having to do re-takes for the cameras. It's why digitisation was abandoned pretty quickly because it was just massively expensive to keep up with. Didn't help the game was a year late, had a lot of material cut out just to ship it and flopped as well.
>>6354079
Virtual Springfield supposedly started life as a point and click adventure as Fox Interactive wanted to really do something with the IP like they were doing with the X-Files game but it eventually became a "Multimedia" CD-ROM because of rights issues with Acclaim and Konami on console/PC (Fox made stupidly long contracts till 2000 and both Acclaim and Konami sat on the license because "Simpson-Mania" was over and neither liked any pitch they got for a 5th gen Simpsons game )

Used to keep watch to make sure parents didnt come. Used to do the same thing with Beavis and Butthead, had my finger on the "previous channel" button to switch back to nickelodeon at a moments notice.
I hadn't discovered Seinfeld yet so had no idea who Jason Alexander or Costanza was. I figured IRL he looked like duckman or howie long or something

I used to love it late in high school; adult animation was still somewhat rare and the highbrow/lowbrow mix of angry energy of the show was compelling around that age. Pretty much any cartoon, honestly. I could justify one for most '90s/early '00s cartoons. Beavis and Butt-Head had two more-than-playable ones (and a hybrid one on the Genesis). Spongebob had a decent if really easy one. Space Goofs had a great one that flew under the radar.

Ren & Stimpy I think is a huge missed opportunity there, as the episodes already often play out in ways where R&S are in some sort of dire situation that has no unclear solution. I can tell you honestly that I'd pay for and play an entire game based around the "Space Madness" episode alone, let alone a mixed-story game or an original tale. I imagine the mechanics would function similarly to Sam & Max where you would always be Ren and occasionally use Stimpy as a "tool," like slamming him against something as a hammer, latching his teeth on something and using him as a wrench/lever, and many other more perverted uses.

If we're talking purely about Dexter's Lab and not the side shows, DL does not have very many good characters, and thus, the focus on puzzles rather than characters, which is my favorite aspect of 90's point and clicks

If you brought in the Justice Friends and Monkey, maybe. I don't know how though.
