which /vr/ games do you have the most respect for? it's always impressive to see someone master a difficult game.

NES Tetris. never thought anyone would top Jonas, but seeing Joseph, a 16yo, come out of nowhere and completely dominate against players who have been playing Tetris nonstop for longer than he's been alive was the most impressive thing I've seen in gaming skill wise. and owns every major record in the game. kid is a fucking beast, I really don't know how anyone will ever top him.

having the dedication to stick to a game and learn it inside out takes a lot of patience. it's a lot easier to constantly jump between games and never improve, especially with the accessibility of emulators. i've been making a conscious effort to learn games fully and it's much more rewarding.

Lots of good games already. I'll go for webm related, when not playing with assists on. Except for ABS brakes, for obvious reasons.

Ninja Gaiden is only difficult because of 6-2 and replaying the entirety of the final stage if you die against the boss. I've done the entire trilogy with no deaths, and the only thing that sucks harder than 6-2 is the length of NG3's final stage. I think it's the only time that I ever died because I ran out of time.

I suppose a genuinely hard game for the system would be one that has bad controls or hit detection, like pic related

>> No.6346023

>>6346012
A hard game for the wrong reasons (bad controls and unreliable mechanics) isn't respected though so it's not exactly relevant. This thread is for games that require skill to master, and seeing it played at a high level is impressive and worthy of respect. I don't think that can be said of Dragon's Lair.

Yeah like >>6344742 said, mastering Ninja Gaiden both disgusts and impresses someone. Mastering Dragon's Lair will only disgust and confuse you.

Star Fox, probably. The brass balls they had releasing that fully 3D game on that hardware, running at those framerates. And it still somehow is a really good game with a decent challenge. I wouldn't say it looks good but if you think about the 12 or so polygons they had to work with, it's minimalist design at its purest.

TMNT is arguably pretty easy if you go with soft speedrun strats. It's harder to do legitimately than like that.

Ninja gaiden, street fighter 2010, and batman all go together. Castlevania 1 and 3 are also great.

>> No.6346852

Being used to a game doesn't alter the authenticity of its difficulty. The logical conclusion to that line of thinking would be that no game could ever be considered hard because there can be a TAS speedrun of it.

Lost motherfucking Levels

Endlessly replayable game with so much more polish than people give it credit for. Games like Ninja Gaiden and Contra are really fun, but they dont hold a candle to LL.
