Can you present some comparisons with the original Japanese?

Some is gonna destroy this "translation".

Do you know that is reason enough to get threads deleted?

It's not really heavy on text anyway. Most problematic part for eops was the interface. And the translator is legit, so let's just trust him on this one.
Feel free to compare if you want. I'll just play the damn thing.

Tell me about pc 98. Is there a good emulator for it, is there a full romset available? Learned nihongo so i might as well check it out i guess?

>>6342625
It is a DOS-based general-purpose computer from NEC. Not IBM compatible. The dominant home/business computer in Japan from the mid-80s to the mid-90s.

Comes with a nice graphics card that gives 640x400@4bpp and an ahead-of-its-time Yamaha sound chip (YM2608) by default.

General-purpose computers don't really have "romsets".

Emulators... You want Neko Project II, most likely.

There's nothing like a full set of game images because the library is huge.

Best starting point to start with Neko Project II : https://gang-fight.com/projects/98faq/

If you speak japanese, there's a shitload of good stuff if you like JRPGs or TRPGs. Amaranth series, Dead Force, Legend of Heroes III & IV...

Yeah, there's a shitload of adult games. Mostly VNs, but there are also porn action games (Brigantry, Night Slave), porn puzzle games (Marble Cooking), porn RPGs (Rance series), porn TRPGs (L-EST, Lakers)...
Some of them are genuinly good. If this kind of content bothers you, check mobygames or PC-98 images, or even https://seesaawiki.jp/chitentai/ if you can read Japanese, so you can filter the NSFW stuff before playing.
Gage is SFW, by the way.

Somme recommendations for newcomers :
Action/Platforming games : Rusty, Totsugeki! Mix, Night Slave (NSFW)
Metroidvania : Tamashi no Mon
Shooters : Last Breaker, Flame Zapper Kotsujin, Rude Breaker
Puzzle : Ranma 1/2 Ougi Jaanken, Princess Confusion
T-RPGs : Tuned Heart, Metajo (both games), Last Guardian (both games), CRW. Plus Dead Force if you speak nihongo.
RPGs : Legend of Heroes 3/4 (japanese only)
VNs : Yu-No (play the PC version if you want english) (totally NSFW) (best soundtrack ever)

Plus some Disc Station goodness : Broadway Densetsu Elena, Ceramic Ball, GaGaGa Sprint, Kiki-Mora no Osou Ji Dai Sasuken, Karakuri Yougekiden, Push'n'Pop. All these small games were issued on the Disc Station magazine by Compile and they're an fuckin' awesome way to spend 20 minutes. Top-notch art and music, simple and fun gameplay. They have some nice mini-RPGs too like Wind's Seed, but japanese knowledge is mandatory.

Ah, the holy grail of PC-98 games.
I wonder how many people will still play it when the translation finally comes out, and they realize the CYBERPUNK™ moments are just in the beginning, and the rest of the game is yuri and monster rape?

If you ever saw any PC-98 games with scrolling or some advanced effect was janky as fuck. Just compare Popful Mail PC-98 to the Sega CD version. The PC-98 wasn't made for "moving games". Its predecessor was actually an office machine, that's why almost all the games are VNs or a variation of one.

I was just playing Variable Geo 2 in it, and it must have been hell back then. The game uses floppy disks, so you had to switch disks if you switched characters! And even if you install it to the HDD, it was still janky as fuck, the sound effects don't even come out half the time. Even the censored SNES version was better than it.

>>6343678
I've beaten Steam Hearts on the PC-98. Absolutely horrid gameplay experience, and one of the bosses is actually impossible without a weapon that has an arc. On the plus side, the music (and sound mix in general) is way better than the console versions. This highlights the general truth about the platform which that unless you like VNs, you are better off looking at screenshots and using a sound emulator like Hoot to listen to the great tunes.

>>6343684
I played Night Slave when the "translation" was released back then, and remember everyone asking in the thread how to make the game run faster.
It seems that no matter what config you use, the scrolling will still be janky as fuck. Something that even SNES games perfected by then. Mind you, PC-98 might sound "80s'", but Night Slave came out in 1996.

VG and Steam Hearts are much better on Saturn, even censored. If you really want to fap on cat dickgirls (not judging) just get the CG on e-hentai or something. Otherwise it's better to stay away, the games are close to unplayable on their original platforms.
On the other hand, Night Slave is really cool. Even without the lewds. Sure the scrolling is a bit janky, but I just love the heavyness of the mech, the weapon upgrade system, and the epicness of the whole thing. The mission whenre you have to hold ground while a shitload of enemy waves tear everything apart is fucking awesome. And god, the soundtrack is incredible. Sure, it's not as polished as Assault Suits Walken, but it's miles ahead of Aquales or Genocide on fellow jpcs.
