The most underrated waifu in existence.

A fantastic and whole JRPG made before the convoluted eva era of writing that focuses on humble character interactions, growth and easy to understand parable-like moral episodes. Great art, good humor, poor pacing in places, challenging and interesting fights and an abrupt end.

And a special onion that you should not neglect.

A Very overrated game. BoF franchise only got good at IV, and It is a masterpiece. You should Just Skip 3, you aren't losing anything. Also It has the worst Nina itinerarion by Far.

>> No.6334130

Capcom deserved better RPG designers. BoF have everything you would expect in a jrpg except the fun.

people say it's a hard game, but I didn't find it hard at all, with the exception of a couple hard bosses. they were probably trying to go through it with an emulator fast forwarding fights, but that's how it goes for most jrpg. play it on hardware if you can. also, you're gonna get a weird party member, keep it in cause he's fucking broken.

III and IV are infamous for being easy. The developers even said V was made the way it was because so many people were disappointed by how easy the ps1 games were.

>> No.6335472

its a comfy game. bright and colorful. soulful jazz synth soundtrack. mini-games. fishing. all that good shit.

the systems are lacking but get the job done well enough. a lot of what III does, IV does better. i didn't believe as much myself until i played through IV again months prior to replaying III. III unabashedly embodies 90s capcom charm and it feels like the better of the two games. objectively, IV is much more consistent of an experience from top-to-bottom.

the core adventure is moreso focused on the moment-to-moment vignettes and situations that the characters find themselves in, and is all the better for it. it really loses steam when it tasks you with the globetrotting, backtracking plot-gated quest to making fucking sushi. there's a lot of times where you end up spending a lot of time on working toward a goal, only to have the goalposts moved. that's sort of the rhythm of breath of fire iii. but don't hate on it. it's the journey, and not the destination that's important.

Is it overrated or is it bad? Just because it's rated more highly than it should isn't a real reason not to play a game

Literally the worst part of the game, just what the fuck was up with Capcom doing this in every mid-to-late nineties game

>> No.6335959

>>6335950
If a game is rated highly then it's rated too high and therefore it's overrated. Being overrated is literally the worst crime a game can commit and instantly makes it bad, so it should be avoided, yes

How to broke Peco? I never use him because he seems so weak and start at lv1.

>> No.6336863

>>6336249

Last playthru I tried making him a Tank and putting him in the lead to soak up damage, and his stats were massive, but you really don’t need a tank so I didn’t use him (again). Rei ends up being one of the most useful party members because of his speed stat and you can use the Speed formation to have everyone else’s speed align with his. Momo is necessary because she’s the only real healer in the game. And of course, there’s Ryu.

Speed / ATK Onion?

The pinnacle of BoF, everything before it was too rough and everything after it is experimental beta trash only tangentially related to the classic games.

some really good music and visuals. the gameplay in terms of 'satisfaction' out of its core combat is sub-par compared to other jrpgs that came out in the same year. when you stop playing in a couple months just remember its because you're playing a turn based roleplaying game made by a company that specialized in beat em ups, side scrolling fast 2d action, and incredible fighting games.

There's two general use for Peco

1) Using him as the throwaway character to learn skills because starting at level 1 makes it really trivial for him to pick up skills from Masters you don't want to level in

2) Giving him to Fahl from level up and putting him as lead in Attack Formation, which allows him to tank and reprisal everything
