Secret of Mana. It's about the context of what they were when they released. Secret of Mana was a two player action RPG that was something new and fresh at the time. FF6 is the same plot with the same characters and the same gameplay as FF4. Both were eclipsed by their next sequels who took everything that was done right in their respective games and added to it.

Final Fantasy 6 Brave New World has been keeping me occupied the past few days. It's a fantastic romhack. If anyone does give it a try, I'll go ahead and tell you that the new script is pretty whack, but thankfully it can be replaced with the vanilla script.

Really? Well that is a shame. I haven't noticed anything out of place. I do know that the newest version, 2.0 is fairly recent, so maybe give that one a shot.

Either way, I love what was done with the Espers and how every character has specific builds now.

The retranslation with bug fixes is the best way to play FF6 IMO. 5 is much better than 6 if you want to play around with game mechanics regardless of how much you mod stuff in/out; I play FF6 for the story and the bug fixes do a good job of removing the most obvious exploits and cheesing strats.
