I'm a weird individual who played (and liked) Metroid II and Metroid 4, but never Super Metroid.
Same with Zelda, I played and love Link's Awakening, but never ALTTP.
And yeah I know I should play them, I'm just saving them. I am one of the few Metroid or Zelda fans who can say I still can play SM and ALTTP for the first time. I just hope I don't delay it too much to the point I die before I do.

Personally whats great about Super Metroid is it's genuinely great science fiction aesthetic and atmosphere. It's top notch and no other IP from Nintendo can compare, it's probably the coolest damn thing Nintendo ever made.

Yeah I remember playing it with my friend, neither of us knew what it was all about. I was fascinated by the lack of handholding, and the ambiance created by the music is incredible. I think we made it to Kraid and I didn't play again until years later on emulator.
