Why was Robotech: Crystal Dreams cancelled?
This is a nice game and it would have blown everyone's minds in 1996.

It didn't do anything Elite 2 didn't already do.

I didn't really imply this game invented anything though, just saying it's weird it got canned since it's a neat game, looks amazing, and the Robotech IP would have also attracted many nostalgic fans.
It's great it's been dumped in recent years, but at the same time it makes me sad that we couldn't get it back in the 90s.

I'd wager Harmony Gold is somehow at fault.

It's a western developed game after all.
I find it charming actually, reminds me of all the Robotech fanzines and fan comics I used to read back in the 90s.

Robotech is most entertaining when it's being a dumpster fire.

Its extremely dopey and not appealing for a mass audience, but its got that cheesy "early japanimation fandom" charm to it

This isn't from crystal dreams, it was a mock up from before the announced Robotech game materialized into crystal dreams

If you think that looks cool, go look up the "ultra 64" Robotech screenshots, aka prerenders from an SGI Onyx

Nothing yroll, Harmony Gold is currently a real state leansing compsny that cucked a naive japanese studio out of their most valuable property. Now they threaten to sue Mattel and game develipers if they use their VF-1 design, a design they stole in the firdt place. They have been nothing but patent trolls for many decades now, watching weeb tranny moan has been a million times more entertaining thabmn anything from the gay transformer transformewith slutfied idols.

Checked that out, pretty neat. Always wished they would have made a good robotech game. The crappy shmup for the famicom was disappointing, to say the least.

Robotech Battlecry for the PS2 is probably the best game to come out of the Robotech license, but even then it pales in comparison to the best of actual Macross games.

>Harmony Gold is currently a real state leasing company

This. I called them on the phone a few years ago on a number I got from their website. Some woman receptionist answered and I asked her about Robotech stuff, and she sounded really confused and patched me through to whichever guy they have looking over that stuff. No one picked up the line she patched me to. Harmony Gold.

That was a Macross game, not Robotech.
It's a fucking classic, but it's very simple.
Try Scramble Valkyrie on SFC.
