How did Sonic Team manage to get this game greenlit? Its certainly a unique experience so far with a focus on rescuing people, putting out fires, and its navigation based gameplay I guess, but I just wonder how ST managed to convince SEGA to fund the project. It just seemed like it would appeal to the mainstream less than Panzer Dragoon or NiGHTS did.

You're kidding right? How does an anime future firefighters game sounds less meanstream than a weirdass Moebius-inspired rail shooter and a flying platformer time-trial... thing where you play a jester.
