Quarantined and just beat outrun on hyper. The genesis version is second best after arcade.

If you count the Saturn port as the arcade, then yeah

no save states but it was emulator. I own the cart but my console crapped out. The jack for the ac adapter has to be re-soldered. It's a model 2 so I'm thinking about skipping the repair and getting a model 1. Hm..

Good job Anon. You may die, but now you've accomplished everything that matters anyhow.

I like your decor.
Also, congrats with Outrun.

Yeah Sega Ages Outrun plays like arcade for sure. I guess in my head I was thinking how much more fun the genesis version is over the master system and pc engine versions. I hate having to hit up or down on the d-pad to shift.

What about the 3DS port?

I was just giving you shit, bows the perfect time to learn how to solder. It'll give you a break from gayman.

Haven't played the 3ds port. There is also a gba port. And a dreamcast port you can unlock on shenmue 2. Some are ports of the arcade, others are built from the ground up. The genesis...is still damn fun for not being arcade. My dreamcast runs great and I'll play outrun on shenmue 2 but still will play the genesis version from time to time.

Yeah my buddy was supposed to come over with his soldering iron to do it for me. I've never soldered anything in my life and never needed to do it before. seems they aren't too expensive and I see some Youtube vids...

The 3DS port is an arcade port that runs at 60 FPS, along with a bunch of extra features like a couple of extra music tracks, car customization (recolors and slight handling tweaks), and the ability to use the 3D function on the 3DS. Or you can just play a straight-up port of the 30 FPS arcade version without the extras. There's even an option where you can make the game play the physical noises of the arcade machine in the background (like the sound of your foot pushing the gas pedal).

It's an amazing port.

Geez. Had no idea it did all that. Thanks for the info. Now I have to track a copy down.

The 3DS port is good, and the 3D effect works well, but I don't like the platform for Outrun. I'd rather play even a less-than-arcade-perfect port on a CRT

really, this
Outrun on 3DS is basically perfect though, apart from the physical machine itself.
the 3D effect in the super-scaler ports is pretty much the only time I ever felt that it was more than just a lame gimmick

There was a version for the XBOX that amazing. Not retro though I guess.

The Saturn port has this option too, and everyone always cites it as a reason for why the port's definitive, but I hate that mode; it ruins the sense of speed, so I never use it. It's crazy to me that nobody ever seems to notice or care

I prefer the PCE version. No extra music track but better sound overall. I never know why they didn't have an engine sound on Genesis but I suppose the music's more listenable.

>> No.6324329

>>6324290
yeah the lack of engine sound is odd. on the pce, i found hitting up or down on the d pad to shift to be frustrating. it's probably a non-issue for some. i found myself accidentally shifting. graphics-wise, both pce and genesis aren't the arcade but are still cool-looking games. the extra music track on the genesis is a good one. is it me or is the pce version less forgiving?
