How come a Saturn launch title from 1994 plays better than a 2020 remake? This isn't even me nitpicking the remake feels so unbelievably sluggish and obtuse by comparison.

Please be more specific. I wish to play it when it comes to pc. There is a patch coming soon that will affect controls.

Dodging projectiles to me feels a lot more difficult than in the original, almost like they have bigger hitboxes or something. The controls REALLY drag, and while I haven't experienced anything as drastic as this webm again, they remain more sluggish than I'd like. The camera feels even more restrictive than the original game's. The graphics and presentation generally come across rather amateurish, and the entire thing feels really unpolished.

Thank you. I was playing the original game this week that is included in Panzer Dragoon Orta. I am hopeful that the team working on the Remake will address the control issues like they promise.

My biggest hope for the remake is that the enemies will be easier to see. Maybe I am just a blind retard, but I have trouble seeing a lot of the enemies and obstacles in the original game. But I can see them a little better now that I have a flat screen tv.

It's not that bad, but it is extremely hard. Seems to kick my ass even harder than the original once I get to level 4

The switch reduces CPU usage when unplugged to conserve battery power. Does it say what engine the game uses when booting? Maybe Unity?

It's a shame this remake doesn't look to be that great and was rushed out the door. I didn't have much interest to begin with since I'm fine with the originals, but after this wave of highly marketed remake collections, I was hoping it'd be a nice alternate take on it. I would have loved a port to be included with it, at least.
And am I remembering wrong, or was this initially announced as a collection of both 1 and 2 rather than releasing them separately?

It would have been awesome, but nah, it was never mentioned as part of a collection.

Doesn't it seem like the Switch release is a way for the developers to have free beta testers? And that the first game is being used as a beta test for the second game?

I'm not saying it's the right thing to do.

That's the difference between Sega making something in-house with their A-team on proprietary hardware and an outsourced game made with rental software

I'll still get it on PC since there will surely be fixes and mods for it

I'm probably completely wrong but it looks like something running on UE4. It just kind of has that look UE4 games have in terms of environments.

Modern controls has better aiming, I'm not sure why. No issues with locking on when using it. Devs are working on an update patch, go bitch at them on twitter. Though it seems they are already aware of this.

Because you play the Saturn original on your 72" TV with the best controller ever designed while the other is a fucking Switch exclusive.

You have to understand that Panzer Dragoon was designed specifically for the Sega Saturn's hardware, even if it was a bitch to develop games for the thing. A lot of the graphical techniques are difficult to replicate on ports because they weren't built from the ground-up as opposed to the original two (excluding the RPG title). Even recent ports of Panzer Dragoon have not been done well, the playstation 2 and PC ports come to mind as having serious visual as well as performance problems. The hardware on the saturn performed a lot of visual tricks to get things to look the way they did, and in most areas the Saturn original still plays and looks better than any port has.

this was the original graphical intention btw, before anyone claims hardware limitations were what limited it.

you make it sound like games from 2020 are generally better than games from 1994, I mean really how is this any kind of surprise at all

If Sega sees dollar signs with the Saturn era they might be assed to bankroll some halfway decent emulation /ports like they do with genesis

Saturn captured it pretty well. I really hate what Forever Entertainment did to the stages, no more endless forest canopy, now it's a puke colored valley. No more endless oceans with the very tips of sunken cities sticking out, now it's a mess of islands and noise. I think it's obvious they were trying to show that the Saturn can do this endless environments and it set the tone very well for the first stage.

It's widely regarded 1-3 and knuckles are the best but a lot of people have fondness for adventure 1 and 2. A lot of people also like Mania. My personal favorite would probably be 2 for the creative design but I'm not a big Sanic fan, 2 just has a lot of cool looking levels and music. All the genesis games are pretty good for that, aside from 3D blast. Spinball is pretty cool too but if you're expecting a good Sonic or pinball you'll be disappointed, still fun.
