tfc field medic is fun as fuck. seeing what they did to the medic in tf2 makes me sick.
i like all the cool timing shit you can do with grenades, but they really caused more trouble than they were worth. i'd have kept conc jumping as well as medkit aids in the game but i want nothing to do with any chucklefuck emptying their pockets of grenades all over the place when they're losing a fight

There is only one problem with the original TF and TF Classic that modern TF2 solves: the pyro is useless in the old versions. It is heavily useful in TF2. Scouts are WAY better in old versions. Particularly in TF original.

Actually in the earlier games, the pyro's role was more teamwork oriented by design. He wasn't and nor should he have been a solo type class. His flamethrower and incendiary rocket launcher were methods of zone control, both in close quarters and long range respectively.
His job was to keep the enemy within a certain position while heavies + soldiers + demomen or medics finished them off

Not that guy, but I don't agree. Pyro was a gimmick in TFC. His flames didn't discourage people from getting near because they weren't deadly. Not as deadly as a super shotgun meatshot, which most classes could manage. And flames themselves were just an eyesore for someone engulfed. It was a good sniper harassment status effect, but that's it. TF2 gave Pyro more defined purpose being both the anti-spy and a close range specialist. The latter of which he should have been in the first place.

Pyro shouldn't be solo in TF2, by the way. He's a great friend to engies. Him racking up a couple kills in pubs by being a W+M1 shitter doesn't really mean he's overpowered. Most people who die to Pyros are shitters themselves, after all.

Flames are definitely a contributing factor in taking down enemies even in TFC, though back in the day I wished they were a bit stronger. But that incendiary cannon is a huge help with dedicated snipers, since snipers are a million times more deadly in TFC having their charge and zoom function completely independently. Being able to harass them at range is priceless.
