Grand or standard edition? I have 0 experience with this game and with Japanese SRPGs in general, but have played a fuckton of games that drew inspiration from them

I'm interested in this series too. Just saw the release trailer of the new switch title and thought it's a good chance to go and give the original a go.

Grand Edition improves the game in pretty much every way except for the music and voice acting (which can be disabled).
The original feels incomplete, as there's no "real" final boss and some storylines are never resolved.
