No but it's cool that you can play as Protoman

Inferior stage designs (though it does have some cool moments, like Tomahawk Man's sunset),worse graphics and sound design, shitty bosses

6 's level design is superior to 5. At least there is a bit of action and challenge.

5 is literal constant straight lines where all you do is unleash your charge shot from times to times

MM5 was made by uninspired newcomers who had no idea what they were doing while the real devs were working on SNES titles. It's still fun because the MM formula alone makes it fun, but it's the worst classic one by far.

I think the only people who like MM5 best are the kind of players who only play games once and who never really get good at games, so they liked MM5 because they didn't have to struggle due the piss easy difficulty, OP charge shot and straight line level designs.

MM6's story is actually supposed to be a little more fleshed out than it shows in game. IIRC there is no mention whatsoever who the robots are and why there is a tournament, except there is supposed to be backstory being all that; so it comes out as a lazy "tournament" excuse of a story when there is more behind it.
Maybe the manual explains more, I don't remember. There is a bit more explanation here

>I think the only people who like MM5 best are the kind of players who only play games once and who never really get good at games

In fact, when I started getting into MM, 5 was one of my favourites, but as I gradually got into the series more, replaying each game over and over, it became more and more apparent that it's the weakest

imo 6 had the best stage themes in the classic series, I liked every single one of them. 5 is a close second.

>they still play the original rom or legacy collection instead of using patches that get rid of lag and fix other stuffs

For MM3, there is "Improvement" which gets rid of all lag, fixes a lot of glitches, and also has some other additions/changes which you may or may not like
http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/992/

For Rockman 4 (doesn't work with MM4), lag reduction patch, there are two patches, one "standard" lag reduction, and another one which also changes other things like being able to switch weapons on the fly (but also gets rid of the autoscroll sections...)
http://www.geocities.jp/borokobo/zip/Rock4Optimization_v3.zip

For Rockman 5, but these ones also works with MM5. Lag reduction patch:
http://www.himaq5.xyz/rock5easily/archive/rock5_lite.zip
Lets you switch weapons on the fly (select, down+select, select+start):
http://www.himaq5.xyz/rock5easily/archive/rock5_weaponselect.zip

Rockman 6 (does not work with MM6):
Lag reduction patch but also speeds up the process of many things, like loading times, scrolling when entering a room, etc:
http://www.geocities.jp/borokobo/zip/Rock6Optimization101.zip
Fixed sliding. In the original MM6, and unlike other MM games, you couldn't jump during a slide, plus there is a small delay, wait time, at the end of a slide. This fixes both:
http://www.geocities.jp/borokobo/zip/Rock6FixSlide2.zip
With both patches applied, RM6 becomes 100% more fun.

It's the exact same story in the manual. Mr. X hosts a tournament and brainwashes the eight finalists into his slaves. There's literally nothing more behind it.

Lag is part of the game dumb ass

>> No.6297567

Lag is only there due to short dev times. It wouldn't be there if the programmers had an extra month to do the job.

If they could have reduced lag, they would have done it.

A good example is MM3, notable for having the shortest dev time and being rushed, for instance there is a routine which is particularly heavy which is active through the entire game despite only being useful in a single stage.

That... actually explains pretty much everything. I couldn't figure out how 1,2,3 and X played so well. This is why dev teams matter.
