Anyone know of any clicky replacement tactile micro-switches for the NEO GEO CD controller?

Yeah i'd rather not, lmao

You can try sourcing the switches and replace them, or you can try restoring the originals by doing switch disassembly, cleaning, and surface restoration. I doubt there is anything special about the microswitches themselves.

That's what I am trying to find out, or at least close enough replacements.
>doing switch disassembly, cleaning, and surface restoration.
Can't do that as the previous owner of this pad happened to have done this
Awful microswitches no click at all

A replacement is in the works, looks like it'll use tighter springs though.

Nice to see that someone is working on it.
Still I don't buy the crap that the NEO GEO CD microswitches were unique. They were most likely phased out by some succeeding model, problem is good luck finding it.

Sort of. It was a custom part, or more accurately a customized part so you'll never find an exact off the shelf replacement. To make matters worse, the original part it's based on is no longer produced so you can't even use that and rework it. There are many parts that can be used but aren't exact drop in replacements. Which, if any, would work for you depends on your knowledge/skills/tools.

>>6290645
>tighter springs
This is the main problem with cheap tactile switches. The operating force of the NGCD switch is very low. Something like 1N. Common cheap shit might be up to 4N. The real problem is the average hobbyist doesn't even know what that means and so just uses a "tighter string". That's great if that's what you actually want but there's a reason sticks have traditionally used switches with a low operating force. A high value for a thumb stick., wew lad. And a double wew lad for using shatter in impact SLA resin.

Oh come on this is SNK the king of cheap-ass, the NEO GEO CD itself feels like some chinese famiclone ripoff build-quality wise.

lol. The NGCD is and feels pretty solid build quality wise. What youtube told you otherwise?

Yeah the same way the Yugo might feel quality to someone who doesn't know any better. It's a hollow low quality piece of shit, YUGO of video game consoles.

Did you get yours "not working. for parts only" on ebay or something? That might explain why there's nothing inside.

Hell no bitch, I purchased it because the NEO GEO CD has one of the greatest pure and clear DAC's in the world. Miles above the SCPH1001, this one will be playing gold plated CD's all day long for increased sound-stage,balance and fidelity.
The NEO GEO CD-Z is said to provide even clearer audio, but it needs to have a modded 140x140 fan to deal with the overheating from continuous use.

It's a compact disc multimedia player, not a toy. The 1x optical drive is steadier and less prone to interference.

I was wondering if someone was going to post that. It's a shining example of getting it all wrong. I'm almost convinced this is a troll. Most people don't even own a nozzle large enough to make a part look like it was made out of hand rolled bubblegum.
