Let's talk about the N64.
I've been playing a lot of N64 games these days and having a fun time, recently I was playing DK64 with the swap anywhere mod and it's pretty fun, Smash Remix is also really fun, hoping for more N64 romhacks for the future.

I got really itchy to play N64 after years of only having access to Nintendo's poorly done re-releases for years since I'm a brainlet when it comes to emulating past 4th gen, so I bought an everdrive and a used 64 with one of those controllers with a gamecube stick instead of the standard. I grew up with that thing but we were poorfags that only bought two games a year with almost no rentals, so I was still pretty unfamiliar with the extended library. Mostly I used it to revisit rareware, and beat some of the games I rented as a kid but never finished. I did get to play a few new games though.
Can I get a list of multiplat games that are actually better on the N64 than PS1? So far i've only heard this was the case with Rayman 2, and trying to find info on this just gets console war bullshit. I just want to make sure I play the best version of each game.

Some of these games have improved PC/Dreamcast versions, but the n64 versions are perfectly playable from start to finish.

The N64 was nintendos charitable act to the rest of the game industry by throwing up their hands and saying fuck it to having hardware that met the needs of most 3rd party developers and is the prototype for nintendos approach ever since of doing their own thing/zeroing in for good on the family demographic. If pokemon never happened they probably would have gone bankrupt. If the 64 simply used CDs and they were permissive about what got to be on the system there's a good chance Sony might not have been able to compete early on and we wouldnt have gotten the basedstation 1 and 2, which would have been a tragic loss, so for that I salute nintendo

I've beaten DK64 tons of times with a 101% save file (it's one of my all-time favorite games) and I agree that some of the flaws are overblown by youtubers or the internet, but I'm not gonna lie this hack makes the game really fun to play, if anything it makes me like the game much more than before.
I still enjoy getting as much as I can with one Kong before switching, but this hack is pretty great.

yeah but it is way better than before, PJ64/Mupen64Plus with GlideN64 is alright for most games.
N64 + Flashcart is probably the best way to experience the console.
