Personally no. You get into a situation when you reach that price range.

Joysticks, you either spend roughly $30 on a low-end joystick or you spend nearly $100 for a high end Mad Catz TE stick.

I spent $90 for my Fight Stick Pro and that easily trumps that.

And I would avoid Hori. I personally find them too loose and loud.

it is easier if you finish them with a special move,

only cutting attacks will slice them, a special move or supercombo that does not end in a cut attack does not work,

if you lose a round you can't cut them with normal attacks

Yeah. For instance, Hibiki can fatality with the following moves iirc:

I'm also not sure if her neutral B can cause the fatality to happen, but as far as I recall I've pulled it off with those moves.

That is true. If you count the original GG, it's most definitely a retro game, but I don't think that anybody outside of a few people have played it. GG really didn't get good up until the XX series, and for me, #Reload is where the game really took off for me, and then Slash pretty much solidified it. When I first played AC, I messed around with the AI on the hardest difficulty, thinking that it'll be a pushover like Slash. I was actually impressed to see that they actually did combos, FRCs, and blockstrings. Unfortunately, they became really predictable after the first few hours of playing. Yeah, I know. I shouldn't even be playing the AI in the first place, but when nobody wants to play, it gets pretty boring doing training.

Since I'm still on the topic of GG, I'll just say that GG1 was an extremely broken game. Very HnK like, but even more broken.

I played Rock competitively partly because I found him badass at the time, and found him more challenging to play than others. I mean shit, he had that fake-out ability that swapped him behind people, a counter, a long-ass combo that did fucktons of damage, and just beat ass all around.

Outside of him, I favored Mitsurugi which iirc is the samurai dude from Samurai Warriors and Joe. That simple HP with that sword was just straight up nonsense.

Also, I almost always just used C-Groove because I cbf to get used to the others.

I've ran out of solo Hibiki images though. The ones I have left are her and Vergil. The ones from Pixiv/Boorus are kinda crappy Rule 34s.

Playstyle-wise, which mode does she fit better? Power mode gives her more ouch when you land a crossup Jump B, close B, into qcf+B. Speed mode I've gotten used to using because well, fast. Chain combos as a punish are cool too but I can't consistently land the down, down+A/B chain combo ever even though I've gotten Deadly Rave down.

That forward B slash has fun range. Still, gotta love deflecting a poke into a BnB combo or if I could land it consistently, something super-cancelled off her DP+B running slash.

The Pixiv tag apparently is called "Father's Keepsake". Well, Yamato and Hibiki's sword were both from their dads, and they both fight with Iaido.

I pretty much always go Hibiki / Anyone else / Evil Ryu

For the middle character I usually play Athena, Yuri or Sakura, but I play anyone really. If I lose with Hibiki, I get to play with a character I don't main, and if I lose with that character, I fall back on that ultra badass evil fucking Ryu. Why's he so badass in this game? It's like he's got Akuma's speedy antics with Ryu's heavy-hitting moves.

>>633827
>fun range

Oh yeah. The best.

Anyway, I rely on simple moves because I can't do super moves consistently. I wish I could use her desperation moves to consistently punish, it just feels so badass.

I still remember that CvS2 video where she Finest KOed some Akuma who had teleported near her seconds after the round started. I wanna do that shit one day. It was simply the most epic KO I've ever seen

I haven't tried Hibiki in CVS2, but from that one match I saw she's kinda dangerous with her pokes and her general speed. Welp, time to bust out the Dreamcast Emulator sometime

What's the best version of CvS2? I know the Dreamcast is pretty close to arcade due to NAOMI, but I'm not sure. I have a PS2 myself and the game, but I seriously can't play any game well on controllers, only on keyboards.

Why haven't the mame devs gotten CvS2 emulation right yet...

Hurricane Upper spam is quite annoying in the right or wrong hands.
Unlike most people, I played characters I found fun, not characters that were the most effective, like Ken's bland ass.

Outside of arcades, I played the Xbox version on early XBL. Even had an arcade stick for it. It's pretty damn close from what I recall, probably on-par with Dreamcast.

Dreamcast as a few Fightan Retro Threads told me due to Arcade Accuracy. The PS2 isn't so bad though. Played it with friends and it was a good romp.

I also recall something about input lag but that one I think is for PS2 SF3 Third Strike

>tfw only good at fightans when using a Keyboard
>become good at inputs with Keyboard because too poor to afford consoles and no nearby arcades
>do pretzels and KOF 2002 hidden supers somehow but not 720s

I know that feel bro

The best. Last Blade is insanely detailed and beautiful. I wish it would get a remake with high resolution sprites, though. HQ4X can only do so much.

I just love the retro SNK fighters in general, though. They just seem so authentically Japanese. It looks and feels very nice. Street Fighter is like a cheap ass bastardization of everything.

Street Fighter's game play is great. I love third strike myself.

I'm talking about the design of the characters and their stories and the stages and stuff. They seem like caricatures of the world's various countries and its people.

Meanwhile SNK fighters have this authentic feel to them that makes me think the designers were actual cultured people who actually knew stuff about what they were trying to portray. I enjoy the level of detail and it immerses me further in the game.

Just for the record, I enjoy Last Blade with or without filters, and high-resolution sprite art would look nothing short of impressive with Last Blade's insane attention to detail.

I just happen to think that hq4x is the best looking filter. I use it on snes9x.
