I'm not sure why you're asking /vr/ since we don't have any next gen consoles or interest in NU-GAMES.

>4th job
What does that mean? An extra branch to the class tree?

it doesn't even matter what it means. it's nuSquenix making changes to a Squaresoft masterpiece. it can't be good.

Fair enough but my criticism with SoM Remake was precisely they didn't change things enough.
It's damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Is there any other JRPG where you can pick a character and play a different story/different part of the world?

I thought it was based as fuck.

SaGa Frontier.

Everything about the remake looks fantastic.

The Romancing SaGa games. There's more in the greater SaGa series, but they don't all work that way.

Pretty happy. since the SoM remake didn't change enough. The remake looks terrific. I just hope it doesn't come out being way too easy.

I dont think its a masterpiece, I think that all they needed was to fix the game issues and improve gameplay.

>> No.6269949

I found it amazing that this SFC game had seemingly infinite depth. Less impressive on a PC. I haven’t played it yet but from the visuals they went with the rather generic bright color palettes, etc. But SD3 had a dark aspect — the infamous Death Jester, the death of Karl at the player’s own hands. I had always imagined this as a more grimdark remake with realistic graphics a la Skyrim.

>> No.6270143

Makes me wonder if these were planned at all with the original SD3. SD3 is still great without these things anyways.

Why would it be? The game is anime as hell.

The remake looks great, but the original graphics were some of the best super Nintendo graphics I've ever seen, yes the game had a light hearted fantasy touch to it but there was still tons of detail, in the environment and a lot of the bosses, the remake kinda doesn't quite match the impressiveness in it's graphics, not saying it had to have amazing graphics but even so it looks a bit janky,

The game is colorful, story isn't specially grim and most enemies are goofy as fuck. Why the hell would it not have a colorful 3d anime make over?

I'm playing the demo and I can agree with this. The game looks beautiful visually, it's very vibrant and has an almost pastel kind of look with the environments. The animations in particular are very mid 00's PS2 level.

>> No.6272783

>>6270143
The new class designs are based on old concept art, so in a way they were.

>> No.6273305

The demo was surprisingly really good, everything feels the same as the original game except the combat which feels modern and fun. The only complaint I have is that the visuals feel kinda cheap but the art direction is top-notch so I don't mind the graphics that much. This might become one of those rare remakes that are actually better than the game they're adapting.

>> No.6273317

Fuck, imagine a Legend of Mana remake like this with all the complex systems intact but fixing the shit combat. It couldn't possibly top the visuals of the original since it's probably the best looking game ever but besides that it would be perfect.

Its supposed to have water color graphics not realism or anime shading.
Legend of mana hit the nail on the head.

Also, play sins of mana

Maybe it's the cynic in me, but I can't imagine a straight remake of Legend of Mana. It's way too odd and non-linear. It's basically a game of sidequests. Secret and Trials of mana are so straight forward in comparison.
