Wanting to pick up Fatal Fury, Fatal Fury 2, and Fatal Fury Special for either the SNES or the Genesis.

Anyone have recommendations on which versions to get? I'd prefer to get all 3 for the same console.

Well, you don't have Fatal Fury Special on Genesis, only Sega CD.
In my opinion the SNES versions are better anyway, although the Sega ones also have their own charm and feel broken in a fun way, SNES ones play more like the original game.
In particular I'm fond of Fatal Fury 2 on SNES because of the elimination mode, which I always play with a friend of mine.
Fatal Fury Special on SNES also has a great exclusive music track for Ryo's stage, consisting of an arranged medley of AoF music, I find it much better than the original theme he had in the arcade.

Looks like the SFC imports are pretty cheap and most of the menus are in English. Just the post-fight dialogue is in Japanese, so that will probably be the route I take. Thanks!

In fact, I do recommend getting the japanese versions, because the western versions censored Mai's jiggle animation, lol.

Haha, noted, thanks!

Been a Fatal Fury fan for years, due entirely to the 3 anime movies. But I didn't get into the games until the PS1 (Wild Ambition, King of Fighters '99, etc) and I thought it might be fun to go back and play the originals now.

I love the anime too.
Be sure to play the original arcade versions too because the 16-bit ports, while still good, just aren't as good in general, as it's almost always the case.
But as I said, I'll still take FF2 on SNES over any other version for the elimination mode alone. So fun.
Also be sure to check out FF3 and the Real Bout games. Saturn ports are pretty good if you want to play on console.
