Who are the most challenging bosses in retro games, /vr/?

Pic related is my submission, I personally struggled immensely. Bonus points if you think of more obscure choices unlike myself

I feel like Death is harder than Dracula in that game. If you come prepared, with a boomerang or holy water and the II multiplier, it's easier but without it, you're honestly fucked.

I think Draculas pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I’ve still never beaten Frankenstein without cheesing holy water. Death’s also bastard hard considering the hallway you have to get through before him.

death is the only thing i had a problem with as well
i had to use the time stop to beat it

>time stop
I don't remember that working on death

Dracula in Castlevania 3 is 1000000 times harder. Also pic related

hope you brought axes

You can spam axes on death.
I'm also stuck on Dracula. His patterns are not that hard but he spawns right on top of you a lot and you have little time to get away. If you just keep moving you walk into his spawns too.

Only the third phase is really hard, and that's mainly in the U.S. version. The first phase has a trick to it with the gap in the flames depending on how far away the player is, but once you learn that, you can annihilate the first phase.

The Jacquio is very easy, actually. It has a clear pattern, you can dogde his fireballs by jumping to a wall or you can go between the pair of fireballs.

Personally I don't count bosses that you can easily cheese using stuff in-game as hard. CV1's Dracula gets murdered by holy water and 3's is trivial with Sypha's orbs.

>> No.6254663

I thought the reason I couldn't beat him was because I wasn't playing on original hardware on a CRT but then someone else beat him on one of those mini plug n plays and made him look like a joke, so I guess I just suck, this guy is almost always the end of my run.

And once you get used to the platforming it just becomes annoying repetitive shit, especially when Drac spawns off-screen.

Yes.
But I was never a punch-out expert anyway. Soda Popinski really fucks up my sense of timing so there's a 50/50 shot that my runs always end with him anyway but Sandman is a 100% guarantee that my run is over.

I know how to beat him but he still can fuck me up with his beak attack.

Don't mean to be pretentious but it's spelt "axi".
