Post your favorite games and recommend to others.
I've been into retro games recently. Haven't played much but I'm exploring, would appreciate any recommendations.

Highly recommend two websites: vsrecommendedgames.fandom.com and racketboy.com. /v/'s recommended games is a wiki that has an article with an extensive list for every console that shows and describes both well known and obscure games. Racketboy also has a page for every retro console like the NES and Sega Saturn that has various articles, such as "Games that defined the _____" and "Hidden gems for the _____"

You've probably played it already, but Kirby Super Star was the only Kirby game that managed to grab my attention from beginning to end. I should probably retry playing the NES one as people keep saying it's the best, but for me, it was KSS for its controls alone. Sakurai excels at gameplay polish.

This is a pretty great list. Besides Sin & Punishment they're all renowned classics, yet there's a lot of genre variety. There's only 4 platformers. Then you have Berzerk and Sin & Punishment, an arcade game, System Shock, an FPS RPG, Gen 2 Pokemon, a JRPG, and Ocarina of Time, an Adventure game. That's pretty good variety and they're all high quality games.

Since you like Berzerk I'm going to recommend its sequel to you, Frenzy. The Colecovision port is quite excellent and I recommend BlueMSX as an emulator. It also fully emulates Sega's first console, the SG-1000, and of course MSX computer games of which Konami put out many great ones.

Frenzy is a phenomenal game, and could even be said to be better than berzerk. Other fantastic arcade games ported to the Colecovision include Pepper II and Venture. Monetzuma's Revenge is also a great early platformer. There were a surprising amount of pre-Super Mario Bros. good platformers besides Pitfall 1 and 2 Donkey Kong/Jr and Mario Bros. if you know where to look.

You seem to be a huge fan of shmups so I'm guessing you've already tried Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga? They're both unconventional bullet hell games which is why they're my favorite. The average bullet hell game isn't my speed but I love how unique they are, at least they feel that way to me. My real question for you is do you like Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga? Or is the particular style of shmup your 3x3 emphasizes more your thing?

I can second Klonoa, a solid 2.5D platformer. Grandia II is unrelated to the first game plot-wise, and some feel that it plays better mechanically, though the first game definitely isn't bad. And yeah, Link's Awakening just got a full remake on the Switch.

I'd recommend looking into more of the JRPGs on SNES, like Super Mario RPG, Tales of Phantasia, etc. Maybe try out SNES Shadowrun for a kind of middle ground between early 90's console RPGs and a PC RPGs. There's also an emulator script that lets you play it with mouse controls too.
