There is no save bug, but you will need to be able to easily get back to some previous point and unfuck your mistakes.

Also, since nobody said that yet - shotgun is you best friend, as long as you fire it POINT-BLANK! Keeping enemies at long range is pointless, you are going to spend dozens of shells doing shit damage. Point-blank? Dead in 2-3 shots.

It's not even about the range of the gun itself, but the spread it has. Range is pretty damn good, all things considered. However, spread makes shotgun virtually a non-lethal weapon at max range.

The shotgun is fine at medium ranges. You can knock skeletons out of the air during their jumps pretty easily at decent ranges, or knock them off edges too.

>> No.6237286

>>6237163
Skeletons are terrible example, because as long as you are using shotgun, you are simply affecting their vulnerability to it. So you can hit with a single pelet when they are mid-jump and it will still register "full" hit to destroy them.
"Ninjas" are the best testers of range and damage for shotgun, especially the red ones

1 has a good mix between exploring and platforming.
2 has you shooting meat shields all the time, but it's pretty solid.
3 is exploration-heavy. You'll get lost but don't drop the game just for that.
TLR had major design flaws. You'll hate most of it but you'll finish it anyway.
Only thing I advise you is not playing them on a row so you can enjoy each of them the most, instead of powering through them; get used to the mechanics, learn from traps and risky jumps, explore every corner and go in blind.

Not quite. Each new game adds a few new maneuvers that Lara can do, so while the basics of moving and jumping stay basically the same throughout, she's capable of more each game.

>Cambodia
Neat tutorial intro to the game, and the series as well. If you're replaying it, it becomes quite the slog.

>Kings Valley
Fun and the REAL introduction to Tomb Raider 5. Has a nice spoopy opening with an unnerving atmosphere.

>Karnak
Drops the ball early compared to Kings Valley, seeing as it loses a lot of its dark atmosphere and becomes a little more light, with some back-tracking and interconnected levels that just seem to hit you all of a sudden, mixed with 1 or 2 instances of lacking proper direction, but other-wise still solid. The rail-road finale is neat.

>Alexandria
This is the part where you'll either get lost or hit a dead end. There's the part with the hook item, and then the very easily missed tunnel that leads directly to Temple of Isis. Overall, the environments are a lot more interestingly designed than Karnak, and there's less cultists jumping around making for fodder.

>Cairo
This is where shit starts getting bonkers, and the plot starts kicking in to high gear with lots of bosses, lots of action, and lots lots of death.

>Pyramids of Giza
Probably the best section in the entire game because it returns to the gloomy and dark atmosphere of the second section, Kings Valley. You may even get surprised and startled.

If you're a fan of Egyptian mythology and settings, it's a 10/10. If you're just a fan of the games, its more like an 8.5/10.

The last really great Tomb Raider.

Backtrack as previous games were mostly linear. You couldn't go back from Colloseum to St Francis Foley in TR1 or from Opera house to Venice in TR2

Research because some tasks are based on egyptiam mythology and knowing it will greatly help you. Especially game of Senet, some puzzles related to hieroglyphic riddles as well.

Explore every corner because sometimes objects required or rooms you have to visit are really hidden. I remember hints in underneath the Sphinx level hidden so you have to use binoculars with light to see it. Otherwise you need to try combinations of these 3 buttons on your own.

Raw and pure as the game doesn't lead you by the hand. It just throws you into a tomb and leaves on your own.

>Backtrack as previous games were mostly linear

Lmao, that's blatantly wrong though. They had the same exact setup as Last Revelation, in fact Tomb Raider 3 was less linear than LR, since LR is also linear, they just split the puzzles up across different levels. Do you know what linear means?

>You couldn't go back from Colloseum to St Francis Foley in TR1 or from Opera house to Venice in TR2
And you can't go back to Kings Valley from Karnak. Levels are now hubs instead of being singular levels, but that doesn't mean it isn't linear. You solve a puzzle to open your route. That puzzle is identical every single time you play, thus your path is same, barring the minor differences in what secrets you choose to find, or in some parts which parts of the puzzle you decide to solve first.

>Research because some tasks are based on egyptiam mythology and knowing it will greatly help you. Especially game of Senet, some puzzles related to hieroglyphic riddles as well.
Absolute retardery. The game tells you the rules of senet, it's the whole reason you turn off the fire protecting the scroll that tells you them.

>I remember hints in underneath the Sphinx level hidden so you have to use binoculars with light to see it. Otherwise you need to try combinations of these 3 buttons on your own.
That's built in as part of the games mechanics. Either way, you could easily brute force a 3 combo puzzle, there's only 6 possible combinations of them.

>It just throws you into a tomb and leaves on your own.
So identical to the previous 3 games then? I fail to see how the previous games lead you by the hand, especially when everyone bitches the most about Tomb Raider 3 and calls it by far the most difficult, like at Aldwych where people say the game just completely abandons you and you're expected to know what to do and where to go.
