I recently wanted to play the US Rom of Wily Wars on my Genesis.

>boot up genesis
>turn on everdrive x3
>put the us and jp rom on the sd card
>I select the game
>black screen. no boot.
>I try selecting us and jp.
>black screen.

Anyone got any tips? Is it even compatiable on hardware?

It worked on emulator. Very strange.

did you run it through a tool like goodgen.exe to see if its a good dump?

The dump is fine. Wily Wars won't work on a flashcart until it has been patched to read and write SRAM saves (rather than the EEPROM type it was originally coded to work with). Romhacking dot net has the SRAM (and general improvement) patch you need.

Because the patch wasn't made for the Genesis Mini romdump, it was made for (as stated on that romhacking.net page) Mega Man - The Wily Wars (Europe).md

I figured this afterwards, anyways, it seems like I'm stuck at a dead end here unfortunately.

However, I can confirm patching the EU version does work on a Genesis, but the Genesis Mini, which has the smoother version overall, I can't seem to boot.

I saw someone on github report a similar issue interestingly enough.

Until I find a solution, it seems I'll stick to the EU version for now.

May be an issue with the x3 then. the X3 base model is pretty okay as it is, but things like it not being able to play games that are 8MB are a bit annoying, it seems like the X7 truly is the better version, shame it costs so much.

OP, here's what you need to do.

There's an NTSC patch.

There's the SRAM patch.

Grab the european rom, use the NTSC patch first, then use SRAM one. Now you have a fully working US compatible rom. Good luck

If you haven't got it working yet, you have to use the version f1 or f2 in the filename from what I remember. There are a couple of other games you have to do this to aswell.
