Let's have a thread to talk about the Nintendo 64 since I have an itch to play N64 stuff lately, do you have any N64 game you come back to play every year? I always play Diddy Kong Racing, Mario 64 or Rayman 2.
I also like playing Top Gear Rally, Tetrisphere or DK64 to relax, those games are pretty good to have a chill time imo.

Y'all should really rethink glorifying Nintendo like this, they're unethical and have a recorded history of slandering LGBT folks for no real reason. It's pretty embarrassing to still support a company when they spread blatant hate, don't you think?

To be fair the vast majority of everything people say on the internet in this era is either overly antagonistic or not true to their actual thoughts or opinions, be it in the form of a shitpost like here or like a clickbait article.
15 years ago you could say that newcomers should lurk moar or not care about what others think of it but instead do what they like but for some reason that has become incredibly hard for most people outside this website. Shit, even on this board it's become obvious how little there's left of the older board culture and how many act like they've been around forever even when this board is supposed to be about video games that are over 20 years old.

I'd say ignore it and just stay on topic but unfortunately there are too many idiots here who take the bait and make matters worse regardless of those who know how to deal with it.

Mario 64, I'd say. Impossibly, my ESL friend. They definitely are tough, but you can definitely clear them after a dozen tries or so. The ones that will make you tear your hair out and swear at your screen are the squid rematch and Wizpig 1. The squid is because the hovercraft controls like shit, but this is how Wizpig shakes out
>if you miss one boost pad, you lose
>if you get more than two non-perfect boosts in a row, you lose
>if you so much as touch the water, you lose

That is legitimately a nightmare, and I could see how it would block most kids from completing the game.

Hello. I see you used "larp" incorrectly. That's okay. Many children on 4chan like to use words they see often, without actually knowing what they mean. Here, let me help you.

Larp is actually an acronym. It stands for LIVE ACTION role play. The "live action" part is very important. Live = real life. Action = physicality.

Due to the inherent meaning of these two words, you can not LArp on the internet. You can only RP.

Same for Perfect Dark but i've gone off it a bit recently.

I usually do a Mario 64 120-star run once every 4 years or so.
I do a Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, and DK 64 100% run every like 8 years or so.

I come back to F Zero X quite often, a few times a year, just to do some Cups on master, and see if I can still get all the Time Attacks (they are hard as nails.)

I also come back to Pokemon Stadium quite a lot to try the gym leader castle with rentals - solid as fuck.

Every year I set aside a Sunday afternoon to play through Pokemon Snap, it's such a relaxing game

>> No.6228627

pros
>more characters
>cutscenes for more sbk charm
>character customization
>character models have more detail on them (Linda has a curvier body for example)
cons
>worse framerate & visibility
>controls don't feel as tight and game is slower overall
>music doesn't sound as good
>JP only so you can't enjoy the new cutscenes unless you know moonrunes
>no 4p
I'll say it's a bit worse than N64 SBK but still good overall.

Based. Earthworm Jim 3D is a guilty pleasure. It's pretty mediocre in all aspects, but fuck, I love it. The only part that is extremely poor in my opinion are the boss battles. Having to bump marbles from Psy-Crow is the lamest, most bullshit thing ever. Still, I enjoy the rest.

Seriously this. Don't be fooled by "oh it's another mario sports title", Mario Golf on N64 is pure ludo.
Never played Mario Tennis, but I hear it's one of the most absolute popular titles of the N64 in Japan.

I have an N64 game I play almost everyday; WWF No Mercy. Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 is just as good. I think whether or not you like pro wrestling is irrelevant. They’re just damn good games with so much love and effort put into them. It’s very easy to pick up, but hard to master. It’s very much worth a shot. Aside from that, F Zero X is a game I love playing every year. Hot Wheels Turbo Racing is fun, too. Though I think that’s also on PS

Mario Golf and Tennis were actually amazing, novel games at the time, and were up there with MP, Smash, and Perfect Dark as top tier couch multiplayers. The reason people don't give a shit about modern Mario sports titles is because they're all derivative cash grabs that change little from those two.

Mischief Makers!

I don't like it emulated though; the art style looks kind of trashy. It looked trashy on CRT too, but in a charming way. Pretty much the only game where I care.

Mischief Makers is a must play, and the only real 2D platformer on the system what is this 'Yoshi's Story' you're talking about? But yeah, the game is fairly ugly and the anti-aliasing is noticeably poor.

I think the Rare games need cracked versions, and it won't run Animal Forest because it doesn't have an RTC. Everything I've tried runs fine though. You can also supposedly run Aleck64 and 64DD roms with custom firmware from the link below, but I haven't messed with it yet.

I got mine from eBay, but there was someone shipping from the US for just a little more than the Chinese listings back when I bought it. Not sure how it is now though.
