How is this game so fucking bad? It’s slow, there’s no variety to the combat at all and the plot reads like it was machine translated. I’ve had people for years now recommend it to me and I tired playing it a few months ago and it was just fucking bad.

Why do people like this game?

Back then I considered it the most average jrpg out there. Bear in mind, this was at a time where there were a shitload of really good games. today, it would be above average. Yeah, the voice acting and the translation is shit, but the characters are fun, the story - while kind of basic for anime shit, still has its twists and turns. The battle system was innovative and in a good way, music was great and the locations were fun.

I finished it back in the day, it was bad then too.
>characters are unmemorable and trope based
Honestly I forgot most of their names and they just filled basic tropes
>only cool places were the wingly cities, the divine dragon peek, and the final area
>graphics looked like shit even back then
>none of the races were explored well
>hardly any memorable beats
>plot points didn't add up at times
10000 years and nobody thought to take a look at the wingly cities.
