Play that Microsoft Game Collection thing on GBC and read the rules for Freecell. That's how I learned.

Where I can download this win95/98 version of solitaire, please? I really like the back of the cards, and spider solitaire sucks. Not to mention that sweet animation when you win.

FWIW, if you finish the game in under two minutes, you get about 6000 points. (Default settings: draw 3, timed game.)

I have no idea how fast you have to do it to get 13k...

You should give it a serious try, it's a fun little game. It's not complicated or hard to learn.

freecell is the most pure skill based solitaire.
>all the cards are in plain sight
>you only need to think to solve it
is quite rewarding for that.

unlike fucking spider
>98% of the cards are hidden
>pure rng if you are gonna get the card you want or another dupe

klondike has rng but is pretty fair.

look up "Full Tilt! Pinball"
there is an iso with the original (not windows-bundled) space cadet and two other tables
it's higher res than the bundled space cadet, too

Massive nostalgia for solitaire.
I played it from time to time as a kid but never could win a round. I just fucked around with the cards. As an adult, I was once sitting with a new PC (around 2006 or so), with some new games like Doom 3 and others installed, and I remember that for whatever reason I preferred to go and play solitaire. Played the shit out of it and won it for the first time, and then several times.
I played it at nights during the week after classes, helped me ease my mind and relax, while I played Buck-Tick's Hurry Up Mode album on repeat.

With all the people playing solitaire over the years, why is there no regular solitaire contest like in poker?
Why can't you play it for money in Vegas?
And before someone says it's all RNG, there are strategies and tactics for this game

Anybody here really good at Windows Minesweeper? I'm still wondering if it was a bullshit claim or not but I remember many years ago in a discussion on Usenet where people were talking about their best times on the expert mode of Windows Minesweeper. Someone claimed that his very best time was something on the order of 30 seconds. I think the best I've ever done on expert mode is maybe 200 seconds.

What are some of everybody else's best times for the expert board?

My best times were 9s, 50s, and 99s on the three difficulty levels. It took me a while to get down to that 99... I wouldn't be surprised if somebody somewhere could do it in 30 though. A quick Google search suggests that the currently accepted record is something like 31 I guess?

Thanks. I figured that the world record could e 30 seconds or so but this was back in the day when there was no YouTube or e-celebrities so it wasn't worth it to become autistically good at a game. Every one I knew of played Minesweeper casually.

I think my best scores were 6 seconds on beginner, 18 seconds on intermediate, and the 200 or so seconds on advanced.

That's a pretty awesome score. You're really flying and also have to have some luck when dealing with situations where not enough information exists to know whether a square has a bomb or not.

there's a lot of hidden powerlevel minesweeper players that just don't talk about it. I suspect it's because it's readily available and some people just have just been playing it at work or whatever for 20+ years.

Besides letting you buy things with the in-game currency, it's practically identical to the old game.
